I like the story but hated reading this. Stephen Graham Jones has great story ideas but tends to ramble for pages :scust: Probably would make a great movie

I just finished reading Misery by Stephen King.
I never watched the movie but I figured I had the gist of what this book would offer, and I did read some comments on reddit that some felt this was only of his scariest books to which I was like :comeon:

Fast forward to me reading it.

Man I did not expect this to get into body horror. Reading torture is really the one thing that can make me put a book down to recoup, and that's what I did with this book a couple of times.
Annie Wilkes is up there in King's best villains

Just put this one down. It was grim and cynical as hell but it was a non-stop banger from start to finish from the most part.

Some of the racial shyt stands out just a smidge with the caricature like references + some of the language, but I know overall, it was a (poor imo) attempt to enhance the gritty realism of things, and it more so reflects some of the rougher edges of his earlier stuff than anything so Im not trippin' too much

Book packs a lot of punch in just a small amount of time though.
