@Trav didn't you try Book of the Month?

Yeah lol....

I actually still need to go in there & cancel b/c I keep forgetting to smh. It's def geared toward women though majority of the time with almost every month's selection having a romantic slang no matter the specific genre. I'm still not all the way mad at it though; I was able to get King of Ashes by SA Cosby & Piranesi from em, so it could e been worse. It's definitely not for me though.

Kind of dope that S.A Cosby made the cut. That should be good in raising his profile even further

Yeah, apparently Razorblade Tears and Blacktop Wasteland were both on their previously. And since it was my first time, I got King of Ashes for like $8 or whatever the introductory deal was. If they offered more diverse options like that, I'd be more inclined to keep them just off GP, but like I said, in the 5-6 mos that I've had it, it's been largely a bunch of repetitive shyt.

You know these #BokkTok heaux gotta have their token picks for diversity in there so it doesn't seem like all they read is Frieda McFadden, Colleen Hoover & whatever the latest contemporary romance is :russ:

And yup, I believe Netflix picked up the rights to a couple of his books and then another studio picked up one as well. Between that & being a part of "The End of the World...." Breh out here gettin' to it.

From what I've been reading about with the quality of Mcfadden and Hoover's writing ability and the little I read from SA I can tell that he is a big jump in quality

The 1st half was the best. The rest was kind of just more of an amalgamation of some of his most popular work and ideas. I mainly read it because I watched the show awhile back and was always interested to see if he had expounded on things in a more profound way.

This was much better and exactly what a breh needed to get back to my own personal project. It's less of a step-by-step guide and more of, well, a memoir, where he tells stories from his childhood all the way into when he got his first breakthrough. There is technical stuff in it, but ultimately, it's the other stuff that helps demystify a lot of the craft.

You read the Hodges trilogy prior?
I know it isn't liked by Stephen King fans but I really like the Hodges/Holly books. They make me think of old detective shows and movies from the 40s to the 60s mixed with magical realism.

I started to read On Writing back when the paperback was fairly new but ended up not finishing. No reason. I just put it down and never picked it back up.

On Writing is a pleasure to read, I think, even if you're aren't planning on writing something yourself. Just being a fan of King, getting to see up under the hood was cool. A lot of stuff I knew already through Reddit posts, articles, and stuff you can surmise leaking through the words of his own books, but there were a few extras + he puts it in a way that only he can.

I haven't read a single Mr. Mercedes joint yet....but I did start watching Mr. Mercedes on Peacock---so just like with The Outsider---Ive exposed myself to it before reading it. I like the Bill character from what I've watched so far along with references made to him in other stories.

I will go back to it one day. I like what I read from it. I don't know how the show compares to the books. My biggest problem with the books is the Tyrone Feelgood persona Jerome uses. But in my head canon, I base it off Jerome being raised in a white neighborhood, only having white friends which he develops c00n tendencies as a shield and to make friends

In the show, he's played by one of the kids who started in that Central Park 5 show. He's played up as being socially awkward, but never on no c00n shyt. At least, not yet, since I haven't gotten around to finishing the show. I fux with and Bill for the most part though, the spirit of it all, I guess. The guy who's purported to be the killer is the goofy mf to me. Brady or whoever. That's one of the main reasons I cut it off is cuz of dudes character lol.

Yeah Brady was fukked up

LOL yeah I would imagine Jerome would be better in the show.
I don't know what King was thinking but at least he has Hodges and Holly telling him to cut it out. Something I wish he had Mike doing with Richie started his minstrel show act in It
