The thing is is that Lil Nas X is a provocateur. They do provocative things to provoke reactions, it's better to just ignore them if they get under your skin. These types of artists have always existed and always will it's just we're at a point where being openly gay or hyper sexualized is cause for celebration so not only does he get the attention from people who hate that but he gets celebrated as a hero in real time (got his own holiday a few years into his career) whereas gay artists who were popular in the 80's got made fun of and sexualized female artists got dumped on too.
