noway that's happening
Most countries will certainly enforce borders and manage immigration
You peeped what Norway did(I think it was Norway) paying non-citizen to go back to their country cause of the pressures on the economy that their presence has

Borders, culture and language are dynamic they change with time and time has proven that people create larger political unions in parallel with the efficiency of new technology.

I'll give you a historical example: The latinization of Europe.... when the Romans had conquered the barbarian tribes of Europe they would bring their young to Rome and educate them in the ways of the Roman, this young generation of pan-Europeans would be an asset for diplomatic leverage over the tribes of Europe. As the curtains shut on the political theater of the classical age, the tug of war and intermingling between the groups would result in Romes gravitational demise. However, Rome would never truly die it would infuse itself and its customs into the new European elite, Latin would become the lingua franca (it wasn't till the reformation [14-1500s]that the first bibles were translated into the common languages of Europe) and Rome would become an ideal to be worshiped.

I compare this to today, America is Rome and the world is Europe.... the best an the brightest come to America, english is the lingua franca (encouraged around the world), and culture is Americas greatest export.

Coincidentally, one of the main reasons why I brought into Dr. Savage's three concepts of a nation's identity is due to the story of Roman

As you mentioned, the tug of war and intermingling between group within Rome cause the demise because nobody represented what it means to be a Roman

The end results of Rome is the danger of having a melting pot culture that doesn't have a blanketed notion of
- a single language for all it's citizens to effective communicate
- a culture that is praised, defended, and that encompass the goals of all its citizens, and
- clearly marked and heavily defended borders

so in your words

-strong economy
-strong military
-order

can you now tell me how language, culture and border define or affect America currently and how they should?
I already touched on it above, but briefly it all revolves around the citizens

Language: not having an official language encourages folks not to learn a language that will make communication more effective between citizens, open more opportunities for the citizen to achieve the American dream, and doing more business across communities

Culture: We bond by having similar interest. If our culture involves goals and traditions that is shared and valued among its citizens, then that bond will be stronger

Border: open borders leads to consequences on the economy and safety

why define a country?
because a country that has no identity will not have a stable economy, dedicated citizens, and a productive future

I've listened to savage for a long time and he is always insinuating that non English, non American culture (Anglo Saxon ) is wrong.

Western culture is the best culture in the history of the world. Why would we emulate foreign cultures?

open more opportunities for the citizen to achieve the American dream
Citizens who speak English here are not experiencing the American dream.
people bond for many reasons, they don't need that to bond
open borders leads to consequences on the economy and safety
that's a vague claim
because a country that has no identity will not have a stable economy, dedicated citizens, and a productive future
that's an unsubstantiated claim

1. A uniform identity,
2. an effective propaganda machine
3. Heavily emphasized "other" which creates an us vs them

This is the state of yesterday, the modern state is more like a microcosm of the world, the states of tomorrow will travel further from your description of nation identity. I dont believe this because i think people will magically become more tolerant and intelligent (they will :lolbron:) but because humans have always trended towards larger political unions (technology = efficency which makes this possible), in the future we will see a few diverse super states.

Show me any nation that doesn't have citizens with problems. That's not he point of this thread

Having a person live in the US not being able to speak english is partly due to not having an official language and the lack of accountability from citizens to non-speaking citizens or legal-aliens

Open borders absolutely affects the economy because illegal immigration wires millions to their home country, no chance of circulation within our economy. NAFTA, which encourages borderless commerce, negatively impacts our economy by undermining US manufacturing

Name an open area or land, that has no sovereignty, no identity, and is not claimed by any country, that sits on the UN counsel or has a thriving economy

I don't disagree on your premise. Whenever he says it, it reeks of :mjpls:
Why do ya'll listen to Savage. I understand needing to keep your enemies closer, but I know what he thinks through the Ken Mehlman years of Bush. What can he possibly still add?

Nation identity will never trend away from those three core concepts in thread title, variations may exist, especially with technological advances because computer security alone will motivate an us vs them concept

Show me any nation that doesn't have citizens with problems
maybe national citizenship is not the solution, maybe world citizen is better
Having a person live in the US not being able to speak english is partly due to not having an official language
wait we don't have an official language?
people who come to the us yearn to lean English
hell they yearn to learn another language period
some who come too old it is more difficult so they don't bother
Open borders absolutely affects the economy because illegal immigration wires millions to their home country,
so, it's their money
it's better than billionaires hiding their earnings offshore or in their bank accounts, at least immigrant money returns to the world economy, apples sells iphones overseas too

if they all lost their identity they would have nothing to fight over
you want less identity not more
