name ONE muthafuccka that DID NOT KNOW knaye's album was coming out??? "no promo" my ass. EVERYONE, to include people that don't even listen to rap KNEW his album is coming out...
people need to STOP with the "no promo" excuse as if people were clueless of the release, ESPECIALLY on the SECOND WEEK AFTER ITS OUT IN STORES!!

I'm saying though...Kanye's album has been talked about incessantly on just about every form of media for like a month straight now...especially with all the cockmouthery of it in mainstream publications juxtaposed by widespread disgust by people expecting a dope album from him last week...there's not a soul even remotely plugged into american pop culture and music (which is to say, anybody that would potentially buy a Kanye album in the first goddamned place) that wasn't aware that nikka dropped an album...
in all practical terms, the publicity and attention garnered towards Kanye's album eclipsed that given to Cole....lest you think the media obsession given to Yeezus the past couple of weeks via everything from the SNL season finale performance to mainstream coverage of the global projections to ESPN dedicating entire podcasts to it to mainstays like Rolling Stone and newspapers across the country hailing damn near a new artistic milestone of western civilization..can all be trumped by Power Trip getting played on Urban Radio and the video played on 106 & Park
It's like people don't understand what the entire point of "promotion" is...to raise awareness of the product...the Yeezus promotional roll out wasn't "traditional", but to say it wasn't effective, lacking, or even non-existent is pure lunacy...the album has been the talk of the summer so far, for better or worse...the last thing it was lacking was awareness of the product...and far as the commercial performance, it did good numbers...ain't no reason to make non-sensical excuses for an album that sold 330k first week...now granted those sales slowed down because the album fukking sucks (or more objectively stated, "doesn't appeal to a wider audience") and Cole will end up outselling him...but that ain't got shyt to do with the "promo"
