I think GKMC is a better overall album... But I love some of the songs on BS. There is just some really weak shyt on BS from a production standpoint. I love some of Cole's flows on the album though.

No one has touched on the second part of my post yet.
Also, I believe, in a way, J.Cole's appearance in hip-hop a couple years prior to Kendrick (and then ironically his failure to live up to the hype with his first album) helped pave the way for Kendrick to be accepted so kindly in the mainstream. Like he became what everyone hoped Cole would be.

I don't understand why his mixtape songs put almost everysong on his albums to shame.
Same thing with GKMC, except it's actually a very solid project.

I think Born Sinner is better lyrically.
GKMC is a good album, but its overrated on here alot. Because people on here want Kendrick to be popular so bad.

I'm not sure Born Sinner is even better than The Gifted, neither is on the level of GKMC IMO though.

His albums are trash compared to his earlier mixtapes. Tell me I'm wrong.
The two best of this generation. What makes them so good is the ability to pay homage to the greats. You can see the influences of different artists from their areas.
Kendrick is a beast. Make no bones about it. But Cole has the ability too and has demonstrated it various times during his career. See his mixtapes and the gawd worthy verse on Lookin' For Trouble.
GKMC is exactly what everyone has said. A masterpiece. It must be listened to at length from start to finish.
Born Sinner is a great album. Also a concept record, but not as well done/sequenced as GKMC. And as much as I enjoy it, does suffer from having the same tempo from for a few tracks. That's not a bad thing at all. But as a result you must be in a certain mind frame, weather, time and place to really fully appreciate it. For me... best riding around New England on a dark rainy day. Born Sinner really sounds
Their group project better be nuts. The are both great artists with the prospect of having a lot of longevity in this game. As long as they stay true to themselves I think we can expect many future classics from them.
P.S. I'm waiting for a song from them. I want to see who kills who. My money is on Kendrick.

I like GKMC, but it's heavily overrated .... it's frustrating to see all the dikkriding because I like Kendrick. But fans make it really hard sometimes
like most of you said, and I think it's like that everywhere you go, gkmc is better by far, gkmc is a more structured, complex and complete album than BS.

How is it overrated? And what do people stand to gain by Kendrick being popular. Good music is good music and when there is no debate about it I think people universally accept that.I never understand statements like these. How does how much someone else likes a project effects how much you like it?

What's hard to understand? When you have a bunch of fanboys and cheerleaders that overrate an artist you fuuck with, it's hard to root for them
