I dunno what this edmtrap shyt is, all I know is this song sucks, and I like Beyonce.
its a hybrid of hip hop style drums, specifically the hats/808's commonly found in trap music, and modern edm stuff like house/dubstep etc
acts like tnght, baauer, flosstradamus leading the way
kanye's been trying to bridge the gap between the two, working with guys like hudson mowhawk (part of TNGHT with lunice) on songs like mercy, to the world, etc
it helps contextualize a record like "cold" or "mercy" or this. hit boy has been one of the go to guys for helping making the edm trap sound more palatable to a rap audience (ex: nikkas in paris)
some trap enthusiats have already spoken out about it (i retweeted a few things DJ BurnOne said awhile ago about what he dubbed "crackertrap")
this is really in the same vein. it's a sound thats emerging as a result of the trap trend going on in hip hop and the edm trend thats taken over the rest of mainstream music. it's only a matter of time before the two merge even further. "harlem shake" expediated the process and now we're getting closer
imo it's the natural evolution of trap production. 2013 is the year of edm trap
