You ever look at rap in its current state and wonder how the hell it became like this? The switch from originality is king to ctrl c, ctrl v level biting is quite literally from one end of the spectrum to the next.

No wonder we can't get jiggy with it because it all sounds like one song that never ends because we're from an era where you could tell a producer from his snares, mix, drum patterns or way he chopped the sample along with 100s of other tell for heads and MCs did their own thing.

How is Bow Wow the wrong messenger lol...just because he took some Ls doesn't take away from the fact that he had a solid run, especially as a child star.
If he was an 80’s or 90’s rapper he’d get all the :flabbynsick: emojis. He’s used to taking L’s so people will just use that. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens if more rappers in Bow Wow’s age/era comes out against what’s happening in rap now. This might hit different than “old heads hating”

A lot of people see it for what it is... people might feel like he's the wrong messenger, and of course I doubt he's gonna be the game changer :russ: but he ain't lyin'. I think I said on a thread here last week, it makes a lot of sense that most of the popular songs are comin' from women and the most popular song this year by a dude was "Just Wanna Rock"... nikkas gotta get outta the trap/drill/kill box 'cause it's had its run. Not that it's ever gonna end fully, but it's been running for like a decade. Music used to change very often, it's been a while since the last noticeable change, and it's currently in the middle of one. In the meantime, I think we're gonna see a lot of people fall to the wayside thinking they can keep making the same song and it's gonna be a hit like it would've been 5 years ago.

Honestly right now reminds me of the ringtone rap era where the south was running shyt. But after that era that’s when we started seeing Kanye and Wayne get off they artistry bag an usher in the Drake, Kendrick, and Cole era. The problem with shyt now is we got robbed from the potential goats like Xxxtentacion, Juice World and Pop smoke. They were definitely the runner ups. But hiphop goes in cycles you deal with the bullshyt to motivate the new and developing artists to create something great. But this time will be interesting because the way people digest music now is totally different when Cole, Kendrick and Drake were coming up in. The next big music artist is going to have to be great at music and have great social media pressence. To convert shyt to streams.

Rap been doo doo for a while…you got the shyttiest of artists going viral on tik tok, good music by legit artists flying under the radar….the next rapper to bring hip hop back will need to make good music and have a good social media presence. (Like @SNG said)
