Let's not get caught up in that Billboard chart shyt tho'...

Because it's premature to just write the whole year off and start predicting hip-hop's death over some shyt so trivial. The Billboard 200 does not control or dictate hip-hop's past, present, or future. WE (the people who really consume and dictate what happens in the music) are in control of what happens to hip-hop and in particular, the music itself. Wherever that article stems from, they successfully have created a narrative in getting people to believe that hip-hop isn't "cool" anymore when all pop culture has been doing is leeching off of it for years. The music itself may not be topping the charts so far this year (keep in mind, we're six months in), but I'd wait before trumpeting some kind of "death" or "decline" based on that, because guess what... hip-hop's gonna thrive with or without the Billboard 200. Some of the greatest albums/artists ever didn't kill it on the Billboard 200 and nobody gave or gives a fk. Illmatic only reached #12 and I've never met anyone that cares. :yeshrug: shyt's gonna be alright, mainstream success and chart positions ain't the make or break unless the artists and listeners allow it to be.

the real hiphop.
I'm thinking hiphop might have ran its course. Its been pimped out, hoed out, put on sale, been sold out, killed and reduced into some quite boring shyt. I mean all these little rappers like NBA, Ice Spice or Lil' Baby etc are not really charismatic on or off the mic, they lack personality and unique flavor. shyt, all female rappers that get any wide attention have the same overly sexualized appeal and talk. But more importantly the music and BEATS are boring as fukk.

Yeah, the production BEEN LACKING! What happened to melodies and odd samples, dope basslines and real (authentic) singing on the hooks?

It's cute how people are acting like rap music just got fukked up a couple years ago.
It's been circling the drain for 20+ years
20 years ago, nikkas was running around in venetian blind glasses and skin tight jeans, tryna make the collar of their Polo shirt stand up.

He's 100 % right. Me and my brother and friends said the same thing. Everything sounds the same and you couldn't tell who raps cause they were all alike, rap about the same shyt, too many clones, and had no identity, same beats, same flows, etc.

Rap is still the biggest genre in the world but it is boring, Gunna and Durk album all sound like the same song and I’m fans of them both.

Need something new, still can’t believe there hasn’t been a a Camron/Jigga like street NY rapper to come out in recent years.

That’s what happens when you let in a bunch of mediocre cat in a hat ass rappers.

If just anybody with some charisma, auto tune and a story can blow, then anyone can get in and this shyt stops being special.

This shyt was special because the guys that made it to the top(most of the time) were doing things that 99% of the population couldn’t do.

Rappers need to be in the booth making music, not being on Social Media....

We need a new rap battle that will bring excitement, not Lil Uzi Skirt getting smacked with a big azz Cell Phone.

Honestly, when was the last time that Bow Wow even had any hits? Let alone put out a single.

If you're not gonna be a part of the solution, just be quiet Shad.
