I think what Dana is saying here makes sense……bottom line is UFC is more similar to the NFL/NBA, and UFC has only been around since the 90’s. If fighter pay was as big as a issue as the media/social media says it is…Why does Conor come back to fight in the UFC? Why does Jon Jones say he’ll be fighting HW in the UFC come 2022? Why don’t you hear the top UFC guys complain about pay?

And Jake Paul is a glass house, the moment he starts to lose, nobody gonna pay for his PPV. Conor loses, fight fans are still willing to pay for the PPV event because UFC actually puts on a better show/card.

Where would they go? They're locked into contracts, and in Jones case since he was always the champ they have special clauses that add on more fights to their contracts.

If the money is really that much better, they would do whatever they can to get out of contracts and never re-sign….but they do re-sign.

The noise around UFC fighters not getting paid is getting louder and louder, especially with the Paul's pressing this conversation to a younger, more mainstream demographic.

Get one of these big boxing fights….o wait it doesn’t make sense unless you fight a clown show like Jake Paul. Bottom line, neither sport is perfect for pay, but at the end of the day it’s gonna be UFC that’s gonna continue to increase fighter pay across the board.

What are you even arguing? Nobody is saying the UFC doesn't pay more across the board than other MMA organizations, the point is that they're not paying enough. Based on the antitrust lawsuit currently ongoing they're paying about 18% of revenue back to their fighters, where as leagues like the NFL/NBA/MLB, which the the UFC like to fancy themselves as, pay around 50%. You don't see the problem with that revenue sharing and would rather defend Dana & the UFC's shytty business practices

UFC is still young as a sports organization and as far as I know, the UFC is the only combat sport organization that has been making a effort in trying improve fighter pay. I do agree that fighters need to make more, I just don’t like hearing the nonsense that the boxing model is better.
So maybe there is no argument on my part.

Don't know much about UFC but he is right that boxing creates an illusion that fighters get paid well.
Boxing is all about the top x%. Every boxing card is filled with dudes risking their safety and getting CTE for pennies. Sometimes even headliners get relative pennies
Kownacki got something took out of him physically for $100K in his fight against Helenius (who made pennies too) and that was a fight PBC built a whole card/network date around AND he sold out Barclays. The fact I made more than both them dudes combined since that bout and I have all my brain cells still
It's like 15-20 guys in boxing, out of thousands, that get paid consistently well. And they are probably a bad knock out loss or beating away from being removed from that small group if they don't have a long term promoter agreement (ie: tevin farmer)

White is right about how the top guys in boxing make money but the majority of fighters are dudes with real jobs who get paid scraps most of the time. There are a small number of elite guys who rake in millions on the regular but the next level down and the next level below that can make a decent living as a pro boxer.
It's when you get to that further level down that you are going to be spending more money being a boxer than you have a shot of making.

The difference is that most boxers are independent contractors for lack of a better term and there is no centralized organization where they all fight.

UFC pretty much is the end all be all of MMA and it is because of that that Dana White can regularly fukk over fighters who aren't at the superstar level.

But if the NBA/NFL/MLB treated mid players the way White treats mid fighters all hell would be taking place and people wouldn't be so quick to cape like they do for White and how he runs UFC.

There's a reason MMA fighters are coming to boxing and not the other way around. Look at kamaru Usman trying to call out canelo for a boxing match. You would never see canelo calling out Kamaru usman. These muthafukkers making what canelo made when he was still working undercards


Adesanya made 600k for that costa fight. Masvidal made 800k for the Usman rematch. And these were massive fights. This shouldn't even be legal.

Then you have MMA fans and fighters watching these exhibition matches talking about "look at what boxing has become".....when the reality is these boxing exhibitions are more of an indictment on the state of MMA than boxing. All your guys have to switch over to boxing just to get paid what they're worth. Look at Tyron Woodley now. Dude has been in heaven ever since he got that boxing money. The battle between MMA and boxing is really over at the moment. All of their fighters are literally begging for boxing to give em a chance.

When Woodley got asked about MMA fighters talking shyt on him for the Jake Paul fight. He said all these guys were hating but now they're all in gym shadowboxing and trying to do the same shyt

The discussion is really about the TOP fighters not getting paid. But you could be 8-8 and make a living as a UFC fighter. You couldn’t do that as a boxer.

UFC is a company. When people reference boxing they’re talking either about individual boxers or individual fight cards. The comparison is apples and oranges.
