Its important to switch up your sparring intensity. Sparring slow develops the finer details of technique and teaches better reaction to movements. Hard sparring increases toughness and gets you ready for a real fight..those beatings are important and will let you know how far u wanna take it.

Didn’t think I would see training advice I agree with on a hip hop based forum, but I couldn’t agree with this more.

When you train with Muay Thai fighters from Thailand, they spar at 40-50% and focus strictly on technique and rarely ever spar hard.

Americans vastly underestimate the importance of light sparring.

Also breh get ready to look goofy throwing punches. Throwing a perfect punch is a lot different then brawling in the streets.

Don’t let it discourage you, stick with it and you will look sharp like the rest of the guys in the gym.

Also most boxing coaches won’t give you much focus until you show them you’re dedicated. nikkas show up at the gym all the time and dip out with the quickness after a couple of months.

Coaches don’t like their time being wasted so they will usually give new guys gasser work out routine and tell them to do that every day when you come to the gym and the Bullshytters will weed themselves out.

2 days a week, compound lifts (bench, squats, deadlifts) 90% of my Max and 5 reps. This is the quickest way to gain a strength base and then you do a plyometric program for explosiveness. That increase your punching power a lot but technique is #1. Most boxing coaches are old school and will have you doing calisthenics.

The one that really hurt is putting ya hands over your head and taking body shots for 30 seconds
