Anybody ever had issues breaking their lease for moving out of state? I got 6 months left on it, lease says you can't break it for job relocation. I need to have a convo with the property mgmt to see how concrete that is. Ready to leave Ohio for Georgia, apt to a condo. If you do break a lease how does that look to your new residence mgmt?

It’s going to look bad if you break the lease. You could try and find someone to take over the lease for you and there should be an amount that you can pay to get out of the lease

breaking a lease with an apartment that doesn't allow it is tricky. You gotta make sure they have an opt out clause in the lease when you sign.

If you're military you can show them your orders and make them break the lease, they have to. Otherwise, you're kinda screwed. You can offer to make 1/2-1 rents payment as a cancellation fee and allow them to showcase your apartment to potential residents while you're still living there.

If they're not going for that it'll be pretty tough

You said the language of the lease says you cannot break for relocation. Does it allow for other reasons?

If you're handy with photoshop, you might be able to get away with cooking up a fake deployment letter lol

seems like a lawyer can get you out of it or minimize the penalty

Honestly the area I'm looking is right outside Atlanta, been there a few times, only thing I hate is the traffic.

Nah, this is real. Putting everything together so I can get this done.

I actually thought about talking to a lawyer about it. Not sure on the Covid part. Property mgr has always been cool with me, I need to talk to her and see what's what.
