R.I.P. to the sis. Had the pleasure of talking to her many times when I worked in Columbia, SC which is her hometown. So nice and a wise woman. I’ve been playing this song so much lately and now I’m about to listen again. It had me in a chokehold as a kid before I even know who Angie Stone was. Rest well sis

Man this is a joint right here and the kind of early 90s soul/R&B that reminded you of Soul II Soul or Loose Ends that was a group effort of vocals and production.

Angie had so many pivots in her career before she went solo and it’s wild that her stint as a soloist was like her 3rd-4th dive in the industry. The game didn’t always appreciate her but she always knew she could write great songs.

I think Angie Stone was one of the most underappreciated artists that I can think of.

She was a hip-hop pioneer in the early 80s and in the 90s she put out some of Blackest, Beautiful soul music. Like audible cocoa butter.
