The suit was filed as a consequence to the Adult Survivors Act, which allowed a one-year window for those in New York to bring civil lawsuits alleging sexual abuse even if the statute of limitations had passed. It’s set to expire on Friday, November 24, 2023. According to the Associated Press, the legislation led to more than 2,500 lawsuits, with many – including Cassie’s suit against Diddy and a Jane Doe lawsuit against Russell Brand – being filed in the final days leading up to the deadline.

Here's what society needs to do.

Announce that these claims have to be made within.. let's say 5 years. I'd like to see it be much sooner, but we'll be very liberal with the timeline.

Then, offer a deadline for everything over that, which expires end of 2024.

Going forward. If you have a dude who systematically abuses you, you keep coming back, and you decide to keep quiet about it for five years.. then you've decided to let it go for whatever reason:

that made you keep quiet in the first place

and made you keep coming back after the first violation

Well.

Sometimes people agree to do sexual favors in exchange for access to power and resources.

Maybe the person they are cozying up to is a real a$$hole, but the "victim" likely knows what time it is and are okay with the arrangement. Until they aren't.

SOHH they let Bill Cosby use them half a dozen times thinking it will lead somewhere. Then it doesn't lead them to the place they had imagined.

Then the game shifts gears and the victim comes after the powerful person with a lawsuit. Which is back to the original goal of getting paper.

The reason why is to eliminate the BS. If you truly feel abused then report it right away. If you're accepting the treatment cause you think you're gonna benefit, then just accept it.

At this rate the girl you stole a kiss from in the 3rd grade gonna pop up with a lawsuit once you become successful.

Timelines are really tough as well because something can be consensual for 10 years and non consensual for a day.

“We’ve been having sex for a decade but he raped me yesterday after I said no” is a real thing :francis:
