Dems being horrible at politics volume 93838181. Trump/Republicans were taking heat for the shutdown and Dems said, our bad, it's actually our fault, lets re-open this shyt.

If this happens, Cuck Schumer has to go. Can't wait for weeks down the line when the GOP goes, fukk those ACA subsidies. :youngsabo:

And Dems go.....but you promiseeeeeddddd:sadcam:

:laff:Dems don't deserve to win the mid-terms. Republicans should keep the House and Senate.

i personally know people that haven’t been paid in over a month. I am happy that they will get pay checks and some relief for a little while.

While I think repubs will reneg, it’s easy for me to say dems should’ve held out. I was still getting paid and not missing no meals.

Sucks but hopefully dems will still be able to get those subsidies for people on ACA
Same. I got an acquaintance who got partial payment the 1st check. And nothing the last 2 pay periods. Happy for him.

Just out of curiosity, did you think the Dems should have folded 40 days ago and saved everyone the stress of a shutdown?

If not, then :francis:
In hindsight it does seem pointless… I will say that. Again the difference here is most parties are usually willing to negotiate when a shutdown happens. One party wasn’t going to budge no matter what. This shutdown would go into next year and the Republicans still wouldn’t care.

True, but the reality is that it's already going up just from the shutdown continuing; the most important thing is making sure people have food on their tables. Sometimes you gotta make tough choices to save people, even if it puts others in jeopardy; the sacrifices have to be made for the greater good.

Well, if most Americans agree that the shutdown is the Republicans'/Trump's fault, which it is, then that realization shouldn't change if the Dems decide to cave and make an agreement with this new proposal.

We can't expect millions of people, from the elderly, little children, and the disabled, among others to continue going without the certainty of having food to eat. While healthcare is important, food is a necessity, and while it was nice to see the Dems not back down, we can't get too caught up playing their game of trying to “stick it to them” as millions of people struggle to put food on their tables.

With Trump doing what he's doing, it's just causing millions of people to suffer, and while yes many will receive SNAP this month of November. In December, that's where things get dangerous if the shutdown doesn't end soon, because there won't be any funds for SNAP, unless States choose to fund it themselves, but that's a tall task for most.

The Dems probably acknowledge this and realize something has to give for this to end, which is why they're contemplating coming to some form of agreement with this proposal.
the blue states was funding snap. November nj paid in full. America should see the difference between red and blue states in treatment

I get that. It is disappointing I agree. I just don’t think they have the leverage at the moment, because the other side could care less how long the government is shutdown
They have leverage but it's hollow. Republicans are in ZERO rush to open the government and I think they figure pitchforks and gats won't happen, and for thats that do, they moved into literal military housing.

The thing is with the leverage, whats next? If people say general strike, broke people don't make for great strikers. They work because they have to. I can scale back and not work for 5 months if I ABSOLUTELY had to. Most of America can't strike for 5 minutes. This is a great thing to stand up for but we don't know how long this will go. Air traffic is going to go to zip, which means travel collapsing, among a bunch of other things. Currently a good amount of America seems to blame Republicans but we never know when the Charlamange the God types pop out with "You made your point, Dems!" It's a risk either way.
