USC coaching job at its best is still a tier below Alabama, Ohio State, and Michigan at their best. It's mostly a regional thing as to why, but still, on the West, USC is the best job you can get. Realignment destroyed the big East and other now defunct conferences. So you have schools that are forced to join lesser conferences or simply become independent. Not being on a power 5 conference shuts schools out of revenue and exposure.

And it’s not like you can just go. You have to be invited.


And like I said in a previous thread I created. The Big 10 and SEC are at the top of the pecking order in terms of revenue and influence in college football. The just decimated the big 12 with Texas and OU being the death blow.
