For FIVE million a year and $800 million total they could've signed him, and then just sold the team 6 years into the deal.
He's already made 50 million from baseball and couple of times more than that from endorsements. I assume he wouldn't sign that contract if he was the type of person to have blown that.

If teams were willing to offer that many years just to spread the AAV out, might as well offer a 15 year deal where 95% of the salary is paid in a final year where you likely won't be employed anyway.
