If Cole opts out, the Yankees can void the opt out by adding an extra year to his deal.

Cole's not going anywhere.

his agent is a fukking moron. $2mm a year in LA? He gonna be living pretty humble for the life of an athlete. We about to see Otani commercials all day to make some look
That vid posted earlier said back in Japan his parents handled all his bread and he stayed in the team dorm with a $1000 a month allowance and only used $200 of it. This dude probably living like Bender in a closet.

Half mlb is from D.R. they live off $5 USD a day

Wrong! All Major league teams have multi million dollar academies, facilities, coaching, and training year round in the DR.

All the talent coming out of DR is Major League sponsored and funded with those acadamies. Those kids have access to major league resources very early. Thats the difference.

Free agency about to freeze up the next 2 years cuz now every team is gonna be on this plan.

If teams were willing to offer that many years just to spread the AAV out, might as well offer a 15 year deal where 95% of the salary is paid in a final year where you likely won't be employed anyway.

Hal gonna look at Soto like "I heard Dominicans can live real good off $3K a year"

I doubt many players are willing to do this though, or at least be that aggressive in deferrals. Plus there will be teams bidding with regular contract terms. I think Ohtani just wanted to be a Dodger over anything else and was happy to get creative with the terms

Some teams already have. Where they'd hesitate is with interest, but teams got guys on payroll til long after we die.

But I'm sure the players will want that shyt upfront like normal.

The Dodgers--funny enough--have one of the best academies down there
