Wow, that amazing.

Now, being the skeptic I am I’m watching this PM with a very curious eye. At the end of the day, despite all these good things, he still represents the same system everyone was just crying about. He appears to be the Obama of said system and it makes sense. This government took power in blood and cunning almost 30 years ago and by now they’ve learned enough to know how to maintain power. Now if he can lay the groundwork for serious political education amongst the people so a real representative democracy can be created which isn’t based on tribe but rather your political ideas then I’ll give him hella credit. When the CIA and US military remove their blacksites and drone sites from Ethiopia then I’ll know he’s serious.

But still, this is amazing and beautiful to see.
:wow: at this video breh. there's no going backwards from this.

wow I was wondering if the sanctions would be included. susan rice rolling in her grave. :blessed::pacspit:
Just proves how baseless the sanctions were, purely politically motivated and a result of ethiopian lobbying :sas1: So are they saying Eritrea is no longer supporting al shabab? What does that have to do with this?

When are you Eribrehs going to talk about domestic politics :patrice: ? When is the country going to have a constitution? When will the political prisoners be released, especially those that have been jailed since 2001 :mindblown: ?

I dont see how Afwerki can keep the gig up as the country opens up to the world again.

something caused this shift by the US/Ethiopia. My guess is China's presence in Africa got them shook.

Now hopefully. Isaias excuse is over so now we'll se what he's really about. We been knew he was a power hungry though. Free the prisoners, implement the 1997 constitution, end the indefinite military service etc.. I think I read somewhere that Isaias said he would free the ethiopian prisoners of war. Also there are people who have been in jail for longer than that, since before eritrean independence. Nobody knows if they're even still alive. There is a swedish newspaper that updates for every day swedish-eritrean journalist Dawit Isaak has been in jail in the upper corner of their newsletter:

This is the domino I’m most curious about which leads me to ask....

....I’m assuming your Eri by the response. What is the pulse of the people in the diaspora regarding Isaias. I know many people, including my best friend, that swears by him and I’ve met others, including intellectuals that were involved in the independence struggle that can’t stand him.

If we come to a point where his feet are held to the fire, will Eritreans be united in that or will it become the same us vs them mentality that was used during Ethiopian hostilities? I’ll be frank, as an Ethiopian my experience in discussing this with Eritreans is they seem almost 50/50 but 100% of them have pride for where they come from, even the ones that claim Ethiopia instead.

Idk hard to say since I usually don't discuss politics with eritreans lol, except for whenever I see my dad which is not often. Feels like diaspora eritreans are very split on Afewerki, you either view him as a national hero or you hate his guts lol.. No in between. Can't really speak on how it is IN Eritrea
