They want to sell your phone, internet service, your car , manage your health,
Organize your day,
predict your choices
And offer their services in exchange for a small sample of your DNA
So they can resurrect you 33 years later
And give new meaning to the phrase

This was smart as fukk from a corporate point of view.
This can allow Alphabet to become the ALL company. Each industry they put their hat into can have its own brand or even have multiple brands. Android can be mobile devices sure, but through this they could develop a high end mobile company with its own teams, own market share, own ideas without being tied to the Android/Google brand. Also allows things to fail without being a fail for Google proper.
Think of it like General Motors...all those companies make cars. But even when Saturn and Pontiac folded people still bought Cadillac and GMC. Or like how Ford owned Aston Martin in the 90's and 2000's....separate brand with a totally separate market share but going all to the same multinational. And once those brand gets big enough it might actually be able to stand on its own two.

Alphabets would stand for companies..
I dont see android as a company .. to me its just a OS and because they name each version after a piece of candy from A-Z .. i dont see it as the "A"
I give you C can be Chrome.. N is probably Nexus
Why would they care about when they make almost 3x the annual revenue Google makes per year just off of the iPhone.
