If Tatum/Brown really do never win anything, then that 2022 failure will be right up there with the 2021 Suns as the biggest missed opportunities of the last 20 years. You'd have to go back to the '00 Blazers and '02 Kings to find teams that were closer to a title without ever getting to finish the deal.
Those teams had 1, 2 year windows. We on year 7 of the Jays already. The OKC core aint even last this long. KD and Russ only went 8. We cant put it on competition, as they havent faced any truly historic teams. We cant put it on the FO, as they have made move after move around them.

Boston really should do work this year. They’ve needed a point guard like Jrue for five years. They better hope he not ready to go into the dryer.

I promise this Deja vu from when the Bucks traded for him. There was a lot of shytting on him and how was no better than Bledsoe.

If you watch bsketball on a regular basis and can't see how this makes Boston SIGNIFICANTLY better equipped to win a championship, especially with Dame going to the Bucks, I don't know what to tell you.

The Celtics will win the Eastern Conference if they remain healthy...BOOK IT!!!
This is how I see it too. If he not washed, I think Boston are the favorites at least in the east.

Giannis & Middleton didn’t win a title until their 8th year as teammates

Jokic & Murray just got over the hump in their 6th year, 7th overall

:manny:

Maybe they never get it done but the team has to keep taking swings until they prove it one way or the other.

The revisionist history about Brogdon in here is a bit weird considering that a lot of the media who kept hyping him up also admitted that his injury issues were going to keep him from having an effective long career :skip:

In fact, when Milwaukee let him walk because of his injury issues, you had posters on this site insisting that Milwaukee fukked up in not keeping him even when his foot was medical red flagged years prior.

Middleton nice but I am not sure him and Giannis can be considered a duo on that level. They certainly didnt have any sort of expectations when they came together. Neither did Murray and Jokic and Murray missed 2 postseasons.

I don't think the knock on Rob Williams is that "his knees are cooked". That remains to be seen IMO... The main knock is his mentality.

- For years the coach and the star players have been BEGGING him to be more aggressive offensively. Dude never cared to improve his post game and other offensive moves
- There was so many times he would go in out of concentration on the court. One game he would be amazing on defense and lobs, then the next game he would disappear and not have his imprint on the game
- And lastly he does not have the drive to work on his body in the offseason. I'll never forget how the beginning of last season he said he "barely picked up a basketball or went to the gym". Then when he decided to do that in September, he found out that "his knee hurts" and come to find out he needs immediate surgery and is out for 30 games in the beginning of the season

Yeah I'm not on that camp of "Brogdon sucked anyway". I loved him on the Celtics. He was a steady veteran presence and the lineups when Marcus Smart was on the bench and it was Brogdon playing with Derrick White was when the Celtics' offense really game alive and the team would be able to increase the lead or maintain the lead when Tatum or Brown were off the floor

But Jrue is a better fit for this team than Brogdon, so it's whatever :manny:

The way I see it, Tatum & Brown have had two playoff runs where they were the leaders of the team and had a championship supporting cast and that was these last two runs…but definitely do feel like they didn’t maximize in those runs

What can’t be taken away either is Jrue will have it much easier as far as role on this Celtics team. The Bucks kinda had to shoehorn him into being a floor general, secondary scoring option (especially when Middleton went down and came back not as effective), then he also had to guard the best perimeter player on the other end. Celts are deep as far as guys who can do stuff with the ball ie: create for themselves and others.
