I see nikkas in here hating on #KnicksTape acquiring Phil Jackson, fronting like they wouldn't be jumping for joy if he was a part of their organization :mjpls:

People can be so fickle :mjpls:

Phil had a hand in recruiting, coaching and assembling every championship team he was part of during his coaching career. Men lie, women lie. Rings don't.

this is what bill simmons said yesterday before the bulls/heat game.

I mean I don't see Phil dealing with NYC every day at 68 years old. This isn't Riley hanging in South Beach. NY winters at 68 years old...idk I just don't see it....with the amount of money he has.

Who said he has to deal with the media on an every day basis?

Phil is a tremendous recruiter and is bringing something to the Knicks FO they haven't had since Riley left...

Competence...

It's more the city/weather....NYC isn't a marquee destination anymore imo....especially for old folks

I can careless if he's in NY, LA or wherever...where his office is located is irrelevant...

The only thing that matters is Phils ability to build a team and all he needs to do that is a phone...

Disagree I think he needs to be at One Penn every day to really flex his muscle. If he's doing this via phone then he's really just going to be an overpaid consultant/big name that takes heat off of Jimmy.

This is a blatant money-grab

The Knicks are so desperate for a big-name move that they probably offered Phil everything he wants, completely on his terms. In other words, all the money and control he wants, but none of the responsibility and long hours of work.

lol @ Phil managing the team (only when he feels like it) from his laptop in Malibu and making millions upon millions to do it.

That's exactly what I fear this arrangement is breh...

Hence why I'm not at all excited about it and I've always respected Phil...

I don't have an issue with Phil working out of Malibu as long as he's putting in an honest effort but this truly smells like a money grab...

YEA GET A REAL FUKING GM!!!

look around the nba, hire a young hungry gm(scout)
neither would have actual gm experience. so how is it a bad thing to go with someone like phil with all the accomplishments hes made in the league? phil or random scout who could be another chris grant. im gonna go with the guy who at least has accomplished something at this level.

when has phil recruited? he didn't recruit for the bulls. he didn't recruit for the lakers. shaq and bean were already in place when he was hired, and mitch made the trade for pau gasol with the grizzlies and drafted bynum and traded for odom. I don't recall them EVER signing any major free agents other than the glove and malone when they were on their last legs.
