College bagmen everywhere in shambles :mjcry:

Whole lively hood thrown in the trash off of one ruling :mjcry:

Them days of giving 50k to a 5 star recruit but you keep 10 and tell him he can only get 40k is over :mjcry:

Thats really who I feel the worst for. Merl Code didn't die for this

Duke, Stanford, Harvard, none of those schools are going to throw a ton of money at athletes. They still want people to think they care about education
The easiest way to get into Harvard is already to play a sport and you can go for free if your family makes under 100k. They can find some academically tied way to do it if they want.

Big universities can absorb this, but it’ll be interesting to see how small schools handle athletics going forward. Wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of small schools shutter sports.

Business as usual for the top recruits but potentially disastrous for everyone else.

OU, is a MAJOR school and has already began laying off athletic dept staff bc of this (NIL) . Expect other schools to follow.

When we say it's a mess, it's a mess

You guys who don't even watch college sports are happy about this.

Majority of REAL cfb fans have already seen how the sport is being ruined by this. And don't ask me "how so", because if you watch/follow you can already see it.

Players getting paid is fine (I already know half of you will ignore me saying that line),...but no formal process or rules in place is problem. And now that problem will only get bigger.

As someone who isn't a fan of a power 5 school can you explain what's the problems, I thought the playoffs did really good this year.

Well, for one the cfb playoff has nothing to do with this, because that's it's own governing body. I mean, I guess for the schools who made it it's good for their revenue, reputation etc.
But far as paying players, the issue is there are no rules and no oversight . So for example, you might think in spring camp you have a particular star QB going into next season, and he can just enter the transfer portal with no warning because some other school is poaching him on the low. Now you're assed-out bc you don't have anyone.

Most major schools canceled their spring scrimmage games going forward, which is MAJOR a cfb tradition everywhere, simply bc they don't want any footage of their players to exist so that another school can buy them away.

Tennessee qb was negotiating (allegedly) with other schools while they were preparing for their playoff game. Then suddenly 2-3 months later he's holding out, then transferring.

Cfb is a very tradition rich sport and old fans (who are the alumni who donate and support programs) are already checking out, stopping donations etc.

I'm all for players being paid, but there needs to be some oversight. Currently it's just a free for all.

if the only way they were able to employ these people was because of free labor then tough shyt that those jobs are lost. too many people were benefiting from free labor. maybe cut the head coach's salary ... got coordinators making $2-3m a year like that shyt is suppose to be normal.

I can see a lot of schools just dumping football because of this.
good, fbs is too bloated anyway. and with the portal the players are just using these schools that aren't making any money (like c-usa, sun belt, mac) as a temp stop to get fbs stats so they can transfer to a power 4 school.

I wonder how Title IX is gonna play into this. You know soon as football players get put on the official payroll some chick on the women’s bowling team is gonna demand equal compensation.

Schools will probably want to keep direct payments at a minimum because of this and let the boosters run up the NIL numbers like usual.

I can see Title IX being abolished. Sounds woke
