I can definitely see Stanford throwing big money at Olympic athletes. No point in trying to spend money on “dumb” sports like hoops and football, you can get scholars and prestige with Oly athletes
I can see them throwing some money around for women’s basketball. And there was a time under Harbaugh and Ol boy who came after him that all these people benefited college football players with brains kept coming down to Michigan, Stanford, UCLA and Notre Dame. You never know.

I'm glad also will lead to better college basketball even more

If you're not a lotto pick and have eligibility left why even come out
some might stay (we're already seeing it), but then the transfer portal is gonna be absurd. The little schools are gonna get destroyed here to where the mid majors won't have the same impact.

Now if you're balling at Bucknell, you're transferring immediately, so every team is gonna be brand spanking new, which is terrible for continuity. Being an upperclassman isn't gonna hit the same when it's your 4th or 5th school.

the biggest issue college sports (forget football for a minute, that's long gone) is that they wanna be what these leagues SHOULD have for themselves but won't happen because Americans don't really care for minor league anything, but will be tribal about their schools. I just don't see it working out in the end outside of a handful of schools, which is not what we should want.

OU, is a MAJOR school and has already began laying off athletic dept staff bc of this (NIL) . Expect other schools to follow.

When we say it's a mess, it's a mess

If y'all broke just say that then

If this leads to the end of major college sports, then let’s fukking go! Major college football and basketball being a big business should have never happened and I hope a majority of programs decide they can’t compete and expose this shyt for the stupid crap it is.

If in 20 years, there are only 30 teams that compete in FBS, then so be it.

It’s been said, but your school handed out jobs because of free labor. That’s a business problem. If more schools start bleeding like OU, good.

I also don’t care about the transfer portal either. These sociopathic coaches promise families they will be there for four years, then bounce before important bowl games for better jobs all the time.

Also, athletic scholarships are year to year. Crying about an athlete doing what’s been done to them is hypocritical. Talking about “tradition.” Athletes been traditionally fukked over and that’s what you want to see continue.

This will probably lead to more high school kids reclassifying to get the bag earlier. Probably gonna see a bunch of 16 year olds in college.

As per usual ypu all ignore where I said "players getting paid is fine"

It's like you all can't formulate an argument for NIL and player movement to have some type of regulation. But you'd be up in arms if the NFL moved like this

I ignore it because you dont believe that due to supporting everything that goes against players getting paid.

The NFL don’t have these issues due to collective bargaining with its union. its something the NCAA fought against. It was asked earlier, do you support an athlete union? You never answered the question.
