Lol...just saying man, the voice and the hand leave us unconvinced... that's all.

I suppose you could post a pic of the back of your head (no gundumb) and we could tell by the hair texture if there's any black in there. It would have to include an "88m3 the coli" sign this time though.

My waves would leave you sea sick, Vic.

while you are jabbing back and forth, Texas is about to pass its voter ID proposal. Its BS, and its restrictive and states that have it, know it. If you think this ruling was about states being equal or sovereign, you are naive, and I don't know what to tell you except, grow up. These states wanting these restrictions that are now allowed without scrutiny are at present trying to restrict the growing urban hispanic and black influence towards the Democratic Party. The voting rights act was put in place to keep these states from having things like specific requirements or poll taxes. Being non-confined citizen of the United States grants you the right to vote. It doesn't require that you pay money or have to be able to leave your home to vote. now, Texas can require a $15 ID to vote that has to be purchased where they want it purchased. How can anyone not see what they are trying to do? These are the same people that cry when it comes to background checks to purchase a gun, yet they want to make sure you are identified and proving who you are to vote, which is supposed to be one of the fundamental principles of a republic. Sad day, and sad for anyone that thinks things like this mean nothing. This is the desperate grasping back at the 1950s of people that can feel their influence slipping everyday. Should not be tolerated.

Well that's why they passed what is known as the "Civil Rights Act" to eliminate Jim Crow.

And SCOTUS acknowledges that in the decision. Swing-and-a-miss.

Besides just because Jim Crow laws are not deliberately implemented today means these same states that used road blocks and other restrictive measures to hinder voters in the past can't/won't use similar tactics today?

The kind of similar tactics that are used all over the country and not just in those 9 states?

Immediately, right after the news of the SCOTUS striking the law down today Governor Perry got a hard-on and went off passing the same Voter ID restriction that would've need preclearance to be viewed based on the discriminatory history of Texas.

Like the proof of citizenship restrictions in Kansas and Tennessee, not covered by section 5?

Department of Justice official and Chief Counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee, William Yeomans:

:mindblown:

Who said anything about permanently releasing those jurisdictions? Or any jurisdictions for that matter. Just come up with a formula that allows you to more effectively preclear this shyt in ALL OF THE PLACES WHERE IT HAPPENS. And no, I don't accept the argument that Congress sucks so hard that it's incapable of coming up with anything else.

This is what we call a strawman argument.

You lose.

:heh: these east coast cats don't understand anything about life outside their own cities. The only time they've seen any other US city is in rap videos.

88m3 is a :troll: so it's hard to know how serious he is.

I remember when that thenexguy dude started talking all this stuff about how all black people treated like shyt in the south the last time, and I asked him has he ever been anywhere in the south and he said no. :dead: And I think he's Canadian.

Dude must think everywhere south of the mason-dixon line is some trailer parker in Jasper, TX or some shyt.

More than location or all of that I don't think these cats understand that their idea of the 'southern racial experience' can be find if they bother to go 50-100 miles out of any major american city. I don't think they get that cities in and of themselves are deep dots of blue on a state map of red.

88m3 is probably too shook of the wilderness to leave the city though. It's hard to troll without 4g access :smugfavre:

The kind of similar tactics that are used all over the country and not just in those 9 states?

So when the first Civil Rights Act law was passed in 1865 was racial discrimination not an issue?

No one is saying that other states cannot/do not use unlawful measures to disrupt or hinder voting access. But the states that were covered by section 5 had a HISTORY OF BEING HARSHLY SEVERE IN IMPLEMENTING VOTER DISCRIMINATION!!!!

1. Lynchings
2. Abuse/Intimidation
3. Unfair Poll Testing
4. Grandfather Clauses
Etc.

Even Justice Scalia acknowledged at the time Section 5 of the VRA was necessary due to the environment in American society in the South. So even with the Civil Right law being implemented it was agreed that there were other necessary measures to prohibit voting discrimination in states that used extreme and severe roadblocks to stop black voters.

Now with Provision 5 struck down what evidence is there to prove that discrimination for voting in these particular states that were previously covered by the provision won't continue in a fashion that discriminates amongst immigrant voters that are eligible to vote? Keep in mind the environment and culture of these states is crafted by its history of Pre and Post-Civil War and the Jim Crow era.

These states were like the N.W.A. of Voter Discrimination they started this sh!t and took it to a whole new level.

Because the other states weren't as bad as the south in terms of voter discrimination. So the south was by technical terms "on probation".

You want to move back to a place where the government actively works against your best interests,
The government actively works against your interests more where you live than where I live. The NYPD guns down and locks up more innocent black men than anywhere in Jacksonville, or in Hampton Roads area VA where I grew up.

And you get stopped and frisked, I don't...well not you, but black people.

And shut up with this c00n shyt bruh. Even if you are 1/16th Jamaican, you have white skin and you are a rich trust fund baby who inherited wealth, went to white private schools in white neighborhoods and talks like some surfer white dude. You have not lived anywhere near the average black experience in America. Culturally and experience-wise, you are basically a white dude.

Police enforcement is just one small aspect of life, Vic. That's the only ace up your sleeve? Very weak, and most of these cases happen everywhere and are stretched over decades. We don't get to read a lot about the possum and alligators getting loose in Jacksonville, up here in the big city.

At the end of the day I'm black, Vic and you trying to label me as anything other than black is just a way to avoid what this thread is about and probably what your life is about. I'm clearly a black man from facial features and skin tone. I've lived in Jamaica in the bush, I grew up in Queens through the 90's eating pizza, listening to hot 97 day and night when the best albums were coming out Wu, Nas, Big, Bad Boy,etc, taking the train, listening to hip hop albums, playing soccer with a Caribbean club. I'm just as black and hip hop as any other black person I've met if not more. Like every black man(well except you apparently) I've dealt with racism, I've dealt with institutionalized racism... what you're saying is not only unfair, its untrue.

Culturally and experience wise I carry myself as an 80 year old retired Jamaican executive. I'm a young guy but I've experienced and lived through a lot so far, a lot of good and a lot bad. Most of you guys aren't fit to carry my water, let alone will ever accomplish and experience a sixteenth of the things I have.
