4% of a large population s smaller group is a lot of people (source I saw for 2024 was 7%).
Additionally, as mentioned, a lot of those houses have more than one family who’ll eventually own a home as well due to group economics. So it’s not only 10 million people it’s much more (potentially 20 to 40 million more people with a legit house) and not on Section 8. Saving on large meals together and sharing appliances for the household, etc. means less spending and more saving which brings their consumerism down overall despite a large American population.
The growth rate on their home ownership is higher than the Black community’s due to those mechanics so that number will only increase because of the way they approach the problem as a group. Group economics, especially in this market, is definitely the way to approach home ownership if you can do it and find a trustworthy amount of people (the larger the better to enforce consequences for being selfish). There’s a group of Marines/Military that live nearby my in-law’s place who’s doing this right now who are going to have a real nice house in their name, right by a Mexican family/community that’s doing the same.
