Worst of all this is almost an everyday thing at school. I argued with teachers but never though about squabbling with them because I always respected my my elders.

Kids have no home training. Respect starts at the house. If there is none there, there won’t be any in public.

If I was the teacher I would have gave the girl her phone and told her to get out of my class. Yes the little girl is disrespectful but the substitute was also wrong too, because how do you let a child get you all emotional and angry ?

So for context they’re saying that the teacher took everyone’s phone at the beginning of class but didn’t give the girl’s phone back because she was being disrespectful in class and cursing at the teacher. The girl told one of her classmates to start recording because she was going to fight the teacher if she didn’t get her phone back and the teacher overheard and was calling for security just before the incident went down.

My brother in law wife just quit her job as a teacher in NYC. Said between the ridiculous bureaucracy and the expectations they place on her (using her own money for supplies, etc.) burned her out and she's only 29.

Her main issue was that no matter how much she tried to teach the kids (5th graders), if parents at home were not making sure the kids practiced what they were taught during the day, it would all go through one ear and out the other.

You can't be a teacher and a parent in a 7 hour day, it's impossible. Granted, some people work mad hours to make ends meet and probably are unable to sit with their children in the evening. The system is broken.

The latest generation essentially, killed somebody that I looked at as a school mom. She had a stress induced heart attack and died suddenly. Everytime I used to go up to the school and talk with her she would remark about not being able to get through to the kids and how they were just so disrespectful. It’s a shame what teachers go through. Hell I just had to be a listening ear for one of my friends that works with youth because one of the few kids trying just got killed. If you know somebody working with youth please give them a hug or a listening ear.
