Yeah everything depends on the case and the evidence they have. Most procecutors prefer the plea deal to get the case over with instead of going to trial. And usually the first plea deal is not the best in the closer you get to trial the better the deal is but you have to know whether or not to go to trial that's up to the defendant. It's best to beat a case before it goes to trial with either the prosecutor dismissing the case or the judge dismissing the case. I know someone personally who beat all their criminal felony cases without going to trial and they were some serious cases one had a life sentence if convicted. He beat all the cases with public defenders fyi.
