This won't be a popular thing to say but Malcolm was a fukked up dude when you look at his departure from the Nation objectively. Malcolm was still bitter about his brother being dismissed from the Nation for personal transgressions. This anger only intensified when he found out the Messenger took on wives. Even if you believe Elijah was wrong for impregnating those women , is there not anything redeemable about the man? Elijah took a junkie , taught him knowledge of self , cleaned him up , and presented him to the world. You don't go out in public , debase and denigrate a man who literally saved your life. Since when has a man's sexual misdeeds become Indomitable? In reference to Malcolm's views on white people , this sealed his fate. It's one thing to attack the man , but to deny that ALL white people are evil Is to attack the fundamentals and core principles of the entire religion. If we are to accept what Malcolm says as truth , by virtue we must regard the teachings of the NOI to be false. Elijah did more for the black man than any leader in recent history.

shyt, i'm in my final year of college and I never got taught shyt about Malcolm. His speeches {The Ballot or the Bullet specifically} are what got me into reading his autobiography, as I found him to be more persuasive & direct when confronting the issue. I remember sitting down as a young dude in elementary school and watching the march on Washington and "I have a Dream" recording. Malcolm was always just a brief mention. High school we never really touched on political writings, just black novelists of the time. Everywhere i was taught it's just been quietly avoided.

Malcolm draws in a lot more discussion regarding the time period and to discuss his policies {pre-hajj & post} would require a much more in depth look. There's an interesting anecdote when Malcolm speaks about a white girl who wanted to help and spoke to him in a cafe prior to his hajj and his reflection back is intriguing. One of the most interesting modern day figures in my opinion. He expressed a much different society. From his time in Harlem, educating himself while in prison, representing the NOI & his forming of the Organization of African-American Unity. MLK day's just an excuse for most white people to brush over the entire CRM and have a feel good day. If anyone gave a damn, we wouldn't just stop discussing after 1964. MLK had much more planned: Poor Peoples Campaign, etc.

In addition. I'm finally getting a serious look & working on a thesis regarding the fall of the CRM, COINTELPRO & its actions against the community. Dug up a senate report. Check it out. 1000+ pages.:leon: Some fukked up shyt.

Senate Report of FBI Activities against: American Citizens, MLK, Black Panther Party, etc.

I used to view the Autobiography as gospel until I read that Alex Haley changed a few things up to fit a "safer" narrative and one that would be more appealing towards mainstream America. I still think Malcolm had a change of heart after the Mecca trip, but I don't think it was as dramatic as what was portrayed in the book

I just started reading the Manning Marable biography. It's a good read so far though Marable was also accused of exaggerating a few things. He died before he had the chance to defend himself and his research.

Basically, just about every thing you read about Malcolm X should be taken with a grain of salt because there's always some sort of agenda behind whoever wrote it

I'm currently reading the Marble Manning book as well, and it gives allot of great insight into his life. It's an excellent reading and should be required with the biography.

It's one of the best books ever and there were some pretty powerful moments. I just don't understand how people can seem so well read with authors like plato and air wrist throttle but miss out on a gem like this.

:ohhh: that was his leverage.

:wtf: i'm gonna have to look into that alex haley thing. i was not aware of that.

and i read stuff by people that are or have been accused of being racist my damn self (lovecraft is one of my favorites). her reaction would probably be ":mjcry: probably...but there are so many racists out there..."
