Unless you are really poor growing up or just don't have a pool in your town, I don't get how people don't learn how to swim. I learned how to swim when I was five years old at the public pool. Been swimming for years, took that knowledge and taught my nephews how to swim.

It's not about whether you're poor or whether you have a pool around, it's just about whether you were taught or not. You could be rich and have two swimming pools in your backyard and still not know how to swim if you never had anybody to teach you.

Personally I'm not sure if I can swim when I was younger I could (on a mediocre level) but it's been like 10 years so I probably forgot how

It looked like he could swim (somewhat), but fatigued and drowned. Swimming is basically all resistance. If you haven’t been swimming regularly you aren’t just going to get in some water and swim distance. He also probably didn’t know how to effectively tread water, but if your muscles are really fatigued even treading water is a Herculean task. RIP to the breh.

I've only been swimming a few times. My cousin taught me how to swim. From how he explained it, you're back must be straight, you keep up your upper legs more than lower, and your arms stretch out. It's kinda like put your body through ground trenches but you're moving faster.
Swimming fun, but it's hard cardio.

Do you not live near any ponds, lakes, or YMCA's/gyms with pools? There are 2 YMCA's near my house that have pools, steam rooms, saunas, and hot tubs, and the Y, and gyms keep that shyt clean. I have 2 houses, the first one I bought, I planned on living in forever, so I put a pool in, then once I met my wife, we wanted to keep my stepdaughter in the school district she was in, so I first let my parents live in my first house, so I could till swim when I wanted. For the last 4 years, because I couldn't carry 2 mortgages with my wife on disability, so we have to rent it out. I HATE swimming with other people because I know how fukking nasty mutha fukkas are in general. Your best bet is a gym/YMCA
