Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
My wife and I have been looking into transition from Brooklyn out onto Long Island, preferably Nassau County. We have two little boys( 2 and 5 years old) as well. Can anybody suggest decent, safe, diverse towns? I was thinking about Valley Stream. But that incident with the racist cac harassing that Black woman gave me pause.

I’m not a fan of Long Island but if I could recommend a nice diverse town to you that is nice with a lot of black people it would be Baldwin, NY.

Freeport, NY doesn’t look so bad either.

im from Queens and all my coworkers have bought houses in LI and NJ. they all commute about 3 hours PER DAY.

fukk that.

id rather leave NYC altogether than live in my car/train/bus for 15 hours a week :hhh:

3 hours per day meaning 1.5 each way?

Also commuting to work for long hours is common in most major cities that are sprawled

staten island is not affordable at all IMO and wild racist

dont kno any black neighborhoods there unless its the hood

queens bk long island and jersey have middle class black neighborhoods
:why: Staten island is the most affordable borough in terms of housing and value. True the island doesn't have predominately middle class black neighborhoods but the north shore (closer to the ferry and the verrazano bridge). Have a lot of mixed middle class neighborhoods (blacks, Asians, Hispanics, etc) which are mostly safe. The south shore of staten island is where the cacs, Italians and trumpers live and there is no reason to go there at all unless your driving through to get to jersey.

For 600k on the island you can get a 4 bedroom with a backyard and possibly a pool. Same thing in BK and queens easily a million.

And i honestly cant stand ANY form of suburban shyt.

Plus her parents stay like right around the corner from her.
:scust:
Oh aight. I could deal with the bougie shyt. My wife been bougie lol. At this point in life thinking we could use the space. Covid has definitely sped up my desire to get away from densely populated areas. Being a city kid, it solidified the fact I'm getting old:flabbynsick:. Found myself headed to those state parks out there during quarantine to enjoy the green space.

Any particular reasons led you to not being a fan? Appreciate the recommendation.
