All the information I've gathered says progression can mean higher pay and a potential lower workload on average...with the caveat that more responsibility means more
learning and when shyt goes wrong, your neck is on the line. Outside of that, some folks I talked to say most days, they clock in and surf the web most of the day.

You have to be supervising someone or managing something.

And NEVER stay at a job more than 3 years if you haven't been promoted at least once. Otherwise, hiring managers will look at you

I've been literally trying to push some of my employees to leave for the past year. It's sad to see someone who is in their mid 30's making $11 an hour with no career path or aspirations while working at the same job for 8 years

the dumbest shyt i read on here in a while and im a JBO head, if you cant cut it out for over 3 years no one will hire a chancer and a man incapable of commiting to a project or goal.

reason a college degree is still aplicable in the business world is it shows you can commit and see out a project/goal/mission statement for at least 4 years. thats durability.

Not only that but if the company downsizes they will be the first one's to go..
Not only that they are expendable. They will have 15+ years with the company and can easily be let go and replaced with someone younger and cheaper.

Leveraging tenure only works with teachers. As with most companies, you would need an ally in upper management, but even that only buys you but so much time.

Not only that, whenever you apply for a high position with another company, the fact that you were Team Lead for over 10 years is a bad look. They will think something is wrong with you to a certain extent.

the catch is that we get paid. well, with pay bumps every year - nobody is complaining.
