I never understood why companies lay people off a week or two weeks before the holidays. I am sure they knew at least weeks in advance they were going to lay you guys off.

Generaly it is a numbers game....those salaries come off the books, so from a numbers standpoint the quarter looks good. If you are a full time job, your insurance comes off to. Generally your insurance cost the company 33% of your current salary...so if you make a 100,000, with insurance, on average the company "saves" 133,000 off firing you. Imagine doing that for 10 people...imagine doing it for 25...numbers look real good...

Plus layoffs are rarely about who "deserved it" and more about who made the most, who wasn't friends with who...who is the new guy...
