Man, I'm sorry to hear that. I would just look at it as a 2-week break. Enjoy Christmas and New Years and then get on the grind for another job.

But seriously what do you do that they laid you off a week before Christmas?

:why:

Work at fidelity investments, me and 5 others got laid off today :leostare:

Luckly for me I just went up to Boston this past weekend and spent money like I was getting a promotion :whew:

:to:

Maybe it will be good and I can find a job I like more then this. Really want to get into financial advising but do not know where to start and am going to need money ASAP so I won't have time to figure it out

I'm not going to get into specifics on the main board but feel free to shoot me a PM.

My first suggestion is to hit up LinkedIn. It's the most effective way to look for jobs and engage hiring managers (even ones that turned you down). Next, upload your resume on the large job boards. If you have decent skills that are in demand then yeah, you will get called. But yeah, proactively seeking jobs on LinkedIn is the way to go.

Again, if you need help with your profile and your resume shoot me a PM and we can talk.

With some training I can get anyone past a phone screen with most firms even if you don't meet all the bogus requirements they put on the page.

I'm not looking for help, was just curious to see if you were blowing smoke about what you do.

I'm already on LinkedIn, while it is helpful in finding a gig, it becomes a chore when you become inundated by recruiters like yourself who are looking for applicants to apply to jobs in random locations. I feel pressured to respond because I may in fact need to reach out to them in the future.

The one time I worked w a headhunter, he botched the whole thing. :shaq2:
