What's the downside to the new job?

Other than ole girl at the current gig, which maybe you could pull her into your new job.

If the new job is an overall net plus, and a more notable company, take it. At your age having notoriety on your resume is the biggest selling point to opening other jobs for you other than your title and experience.

no opportunity for cloud like infrastructure, (unless we count Microsoft Office 365, but that’s not really something complicated or interesting tbh it’s boring stuff.) I can utilize Linux, but not as much as I would like to, like I can currently. Very little opportunity for Dev work, but more IT infrastructure work. If that makes sense. While at my current job I’m creating a foundation that will pull me away from a lot of tedious tasks and will push me more into Development work and system design. I have a lot of great ideas at my current job. I think I could have this thing running beautifully from an IT perspective in a year. My fear is, will everyone else keep up? :francis: If I can confirmation from that I will gladly stay, but I can’t be a part of a disorganized mess

Where do you want to take your career?

1st option seems like harder work, but you can make it into what you want. 2nd option sounds a bit more laid back.

yeah this is why I tell dudes stay discipline and make sure they vet the jobs they interview for when leaving a bad situation. When you hate your current job you will be in a rush to leave and potentially ignore red flags of the new company and end up in a worse or equally bad situation

Here now :francis:

My hours been cut by almost half for 5 months and management is so bad I couldn't wait to leave. I was there for 5 years and left swiftly.. New job said a whole lot of shyt about making more money as a start up and having 40 hours guaranteed, even tho my base pay is 3 dollars less than my last job, I was told I'd make more off the commission of work im doing..... it aint adding up and the incompetence of the owner and manager is astounding :francis: now I'm job searching again and cannot get my old job back in the mean time :snoop:

Ask for $125k and if they counter with 6 figures take it along with that leaving at noon on Fridays that the other offer is giving you. Be prepared for the other company to come with another enticing counter offer as well to try to pry you away. You’re in a great spot though.

dude stop playing with these ppl and move the fukk on…some places get very nasty when you tell them your intentions too early as others mentioned, and will hold it against you despite the phony, well-wishing smiles…stop going back and forth with the demands…your decision was made once you made it clear to them you found another position which was risky…I made that mistake once before everything was solidified, and the new job offer was eventually “retracted”…she actually went as far as to claim she never even made the offer which was a complete fukking lie…I had no proof but I know someone from my job got in her ear…so that was gone and they found a bullshyt loophole to get me terminated at the old job…I could’ve fought it but I really didn’t want to be there and the situation worked out for the better in the end, but who’s to say you’re gonna always land on your feet

I'm going to chalk it up to you being young and not knowing any better but why didn't you just talk to your employer and ask for these things? Like others have said if you were at the point that you were looking for a way out, it's best to move on. Unless the company goes through a complete makeover, you'll eventually be looking again.

I want to develop and grow. I feel like at the other job I’ll be doing more of the same a little more intricate network stuff, but I’m not sure that’s what I want to be.

You're young. Do the developing and growing now, so when you're older it's easier to move around.

That being said, sometimes having a bigger organization on your resume gives you the mobility to grow down the line. I have 4 Fortune 500s on my resume and I get an offer to interview at a company almost weekly.

you’re right, I’m doing what I’ll be doing at the other job and then some where I am now. The other one was really good, but not every job is perfect. You have to take the good with the bad l. Is it really worth it, idk. My unhappiness was triggered by our parent company, but they’ve backed off and allow me to do my thing which was a huge worry of mine.
