Me personally I'd be cautious with excepting a counter offer from your current place. They now know you're not happy there now and might try to leave again. Always put your best interests first. If the new gig will boost your pockets resume and you will learn more go with the new job for sure. I just had to give my job a 2 week for a bigger bag too :blessed:

2000 bonus isn't anything really and raises "every year" is not guaranteed unless it's in your contract or offer of employment which it isn't. Not trying to hate, just want you to walk into the decision with your eyes open.

Thanks for the insight breh. I’m open to learning so I don’t take it as hating

no opportunity for cloud like infrastructure, (unless we count Microsoft Office 365, but that’s not really something complicated or interesting tbh it’s boring stuff.) I can utilize Linux, but not as much as I would like to, like I can currently. Very little opportunity for Dev work, but more IT infrastructure work. If that makes sense. While at my current job I’m creating a foundation that will pull me away from a lot of tedious tasks and will push me more into Development work and system design. I have a lot of great ideas at my current job. I think I could have this thing running beautifully from an IT perspective in a year. My fear is, will everyone else keep up? :francis: If I can confirmation from that I will gladly stay, but I can’t be a part of a disorganized mess
This changes everything. Cloud is what you want to be working on breh especially if your aim is to get into Devops.

You want to be working with tools like AWS, terraform, ansible, linux, python...not boring stuff like office 365.

Ask your current job for 90-100k and if they offer it stay on for a bit to build your devops skills before you dip and make a lot more money at your next job.

That’s exactly my thought process and I vocalized that to my manager today. Tomorrow the big dogs are coming on site so the president of our location, Vice President of the Parent company and the COO. hopefully I can take a few minutes of the presidents time and kind of talk it through. I’m going to be as honest as I can about pretty much everything. My likes and dislikes. What I’m looking and hoping for and if he meets my number, which I’m certain he will. It’s a no brainer. I just don’t see myself ever having all this stuff at my disposal anywhere. Especially at my age

NEVER use a job offer for a raise! You might get it but management is petty enough to start looking for your replacement. Just move on IMO you just burned your bridges with your current employer.

I don’t think so, I didn’t use the offer for a raise. I vocalized multiple times to them it was not about the money. But about structure I want better structure and I have not been seeing it. If it was truly about money I would’ve said give me X amount of money or I’m leaving, but instead it was a discussion about what they can provide to me besides money that the other organization can’t. I’m looking to maximize my potential. If I can get more money while doing that cool. But That’s not what leads my discussions

Soooo I decided I’m going to stay.

Thanks everyone who contributed, gave me advice, or just commented.

I asked myself a few simple questions. What do I want, how do I get there and on a scale of 1-10 how does each organization help get me there? My current organization I’ll say a 8/10 the other one, 6/10. There’s a lot of pros and trust me i would’ve killed for this after college, but I may never have this much at my disposal in the manner that I do. Too risky to lose it, I need to strike while I’m young and the iron is hot. As for my unhappiness some of it is internal as well. I think once I move into this new city It’ll give me something to look forward to and balance out work with life. So far it’s only been work, once I finally pull myself away from that it will boost my morale and my general happiness. Long story short, I need to stop using work as a way to satisfy my happiness. Work is simply work, I need to treat it as such.

Maybe leaving is the best decision. I said I was gonna tell them the answer tomorrow but I just changed my mind like 4 times in 4 hours
