What!

DMV LOVED NYC STUFF!

DMV(including the baltimore area) has at least 5 million people

Once you include New England, and Philly, you are talking even more people.

I lived in both NY and DC and I rap. NY nikkas do shows in DC all the time.
more than South stuff? :usure: Even East Coasters like South stuff more than Ny shyt

although i've always wondered why every rapper from NC except Petey Pablo is on some heavy NY shyt in their music:ehh:

Now, it's probably like that, because NYC aint coming with anything proper, but in the dipset era, and before that, they loved our shyt, just as much as west coast, and south shyt. They would blast whatever was hot.

ASAP Rocky could've been like the biggest NY rapper since 50 tbh

Idk what happened
I think he tried to crossover too fast. He should have waited for his second or third to do more different music outside of hip hop. Songs like "phoenix" was dope, but his fans wasn't ready for that, in my opinion. Then when he went crazy with the fashion, it just pushed it further.

while i'm a big fan of him i think his albums kind of abandoned the aesthetic of LiveLoveASAP which is a classic. he also stopped doing music for fashion/producing (Ferg used that time to grind tho) . moving to LA / London also didn't help i think.

I liked that album, but I can see his fans not digging it.

Let me ask you what didn't you like about it?

From The Westside With Love
DC/MD is not know for its rap scene/infrastructure and look at the size of hose states compared to the cities of the South. There's also a large Dj network for southern artists across the south/Midwest and southern rappers use it to their advantage
I think that's why you see more NY rappers doing global shows then southern rappers

None of that matters tho, if these rappers really wanted their music to take off, they'd hit every hole in the wall spot down the 95 corridor...record "on the road" footage and upload it, get/give features from not so known rappers in them areas, have them mixtapes available to buy after the shows etc.

from the way a lot of these rappers twitters look, you'd never know they were rappers.

it's a tried and true formula, it may take you longer than others...but if you keep at it, eventually you will get where you want to be.

The mental gymnast have definitely been getting they Gabrielle Douglas on:laff:

Making songs for the strip clubs and anything outside of potent music and lyricism watered down Hip Hop. Plus it created a massive imbalance.
