Brehs, was this the most forced couple ever on a black sitcom?

William and Joan were both awkward nerds...they were perfect for each other.

Will and Lisa was clearly only done because they didn't even intend to have a season 5.

This may sound like sacrilege but...Dwayne and Whitley are super forced. If Lisa Bonet doesn't get pregnant it probably never happens. We probably end up with Dwayne and Denise. There is no way a woman like Whitley ever even notices Dwayne, let alone falls for him. And speaking as a grown ass man, she brought waaaaay too much drama and unnecessary shyt.

Gotcha!
I see what u saying.
If you go back and rewatch the latter episodes of ADW , right b4 Whitley and Dewayne got married, Freddie wasnt even into Shazah like that because she had come to terms with herself being in love with Ron. She even sacrificed a friendship with Kim. All the cards lined up for them to be together which made her dealing with Shazah seemed forced. The show made them forced.

Most of what you're describing is season 6, not 5 (where of course the wedding occurred).

However, Ron and Freddie did have a "moment" BEFORE she got with Shazza in season 5 (her and Shazza officially got together around the time Whitley and Dwayne were ORIGINALLY supposed to get married).

That said, it was subtly shown that Freddie had a crush on Shazza from season 4

Every broad on the show except Whitley was moist for Shazza :russ:.

The Ron, Freddie thing was truly a suble slow build. I think it was season 3 where Ron saw Freddy from behind and didn't know it was her and was like :noah: and then when he realized it was her he was like :scust:. They had your typical middle school love/hate dynamic. If anything with Ron was forced it was the Kim shyt. They just got paired up because their best friends had a thing. Nothing about those characters suggested they should have dated. I mean Ron certainly woulda smashed if he could but that's about it.

nikka what??

The character development from season 2 and on between these two characters showed a bougie southern belle not grounded in reality who always has her daddy bail her out of everything turn into a semi-independent woman, and a goofy nerd turned into a somewhat mature individual with an engineering future get together. They complemented each other. He brought her down to reality, and she occasionally helped push him to his full potential. Sometimes they were the voice of reason to each other.

It could happen in the real world......right?:mjcry:

And people made it seem like Doug and Carrie on King of Queens was unrealistic, which I disagree with. Carrie wasn’t some bad bytch and as the show went on, she got :flabbynsick:

Doug might have been a doofus but he was a provider and was decent looking for a fat dude. They complimented each other well considering Carrie was just a glorified secretary.
Its not how Carrie looks..despite her round Italian ass, its her attitude. She just seems like she wouldn't put up with a goofy cat like that.

Not liked doesnt = forced no more than not liking a character means the actor is bad. Especially if ur not supposed to like the character. Forced to me is actors who couldn’t sell it on screen or the show throwing u for a loop for literally no reason. Like Rachel and Joey on Friends. It made zero sense and actually brought the show down.

Honestly, I never thought they were a bad couple on paper. It could have worked, but the writers didn't want to commit to it, and the actors hated the idea of it, so everybody was putting in 50% effort. :yeshrug:

It made sense for Joey to fall in love with Rachel and then have her reject him. I didn't have a problem with that storyline at all. But then the next season, Rachel starts having dreams about Joey and wants to be with him because......because, I don't know. :dwillhuh:

Then they finally get together and they devote an entire episode to how Ross feels about it (even though he hadn't been with Rachel for six years at that point). They have Ross make peace with it, he gives them their blessing, and in the very next episode, they break up because they can't have sex, even though two episodes before that, they were probably going to have it if Ross hadn't caught them. :hubie:

Everybody involved wanted the relationship to fail so they didn't bother trying to sell you on it.

The show was better before they got together. :manny:

Whenever a show has a will they/won't they component it has a limited shelf life. You can only drag out the love/hate relationship so long before stop giving a shyt. But once they get together people stop giving a damn because the love/hate aspect they liked is no longer there.

Believe it or not, breh was 34 when he landed this role.
Esther Rolle was 54.
I always laugh at the scenes when he's tryna smash.

for some reason this pissed me off :pachaha:. Always thought this show was a little too extra in how it depicted black people. They know they could have gotten a better looking couple :mjlol: Dynomitteeee!:wtf:
