All this right here! shyt crazy, and the thing that gets me more is how cacs is "So Oakland" now. Everything that come out they mouth is "Oakland this" and "Oakland that" when 15 years ago, y'all wouldn't even come here like that. Cacs dont even know about the "Oakland Is Proud" muralyea, today. but i just don't like "today" being the representation of the bay, the real folks from here/still here operate completely different that all the transplants who moved here, and that's across all races. the OG white folks from oakland, berkeley, sf used to be da best, i don't know who these fakkits are that moved here

Yea. The lake is mostly non black or East African people. Downtown aint downtown like it used to be. TOO many hipsters. They opened alot of new restaurants and some bars downtown.
My bad for the miscommunication, i was just responding to Zay for the present day and yes I'm familiar with all the functions you mentioned. But like we said the population has dwindled and the funding isn't present. I always said Oakland is the Harlem of the West coast with the history of black culture and civil rights, especially. They started right there on 57th street while they were students at Merritt I believe. When my pops first came to Oakland from the army he came face to face with the Panthers having a rally st Defermery Park in the West.yea, today. but i just don't like "today" being the representation of the bay, the real folks from here/still here operate completely different that all the transplants who moved here, and that's across all races. the OG white folks from oakland, berkeley, sf used to be da best, i don't know who these fakkits are that moved here

On an somewhat unrelated note, my Oakland Brehs and Brehettes...They built that big ass Uber complex downtown Oakland too. All these coffe shops and boutiques are running up the property values too
Speaking of Downtown tho. Whats this building?
Breh, I think the tollbooth got that covered for you

Ive never seen anyone go in or come out that building tho. It’s an office building/high rise
People used to joke and say it was an FBI HQ.
That was just jokes tho....right?I just go looking for spots near/around the bart station.Lol, but I think he'd fare better in Tracy. I was just looking for a house in "The Yoc"and the prices were kinda up there. I think its because they extended the Bart tho

that was going on before it was seen as a "southern" thing (00's).and we have/had a lot of southern influence, most of our g-parents were from the south.
the black people from here embrace black culture just as much as any other area, so you're wrong there as well.
the issue is that the black population has decreased (it never was that high if you compare it to southern metro areas and those on the east coast) and dispersed, so the opportunities to celebrate black culture have dwindled: attendance went down, so funding went down, so quality went down, so then attendance goes down again, rinse and repeat.
we used to have the black cowboy parade, karijama (big black arts celebration memorial day weekend), two big juneteenth celebrations, the malcolm x jazz festival, art & soul festival (labor day), carnival used to be bigger and blacker, festival at the lake (which rivaled any "block party" that happens in other black cities), we had/have a well known black/african dance center, a black theater group, oakland is home of the damn panthers. so miss me with not embracing black culture.
unfortunately the loss (and dispersion) of the native black population paired with the transplant blacks (many of whom rather be shea butter blipsters or buppies) are the things that have watered down black culture out here, but don't get today twisted with the how we got down in the past. outside of size, black events in oakland/sf/berkeley were just as beautiful as those i've attended in chicago, DC, philly and atlanta
Stockton is the armpit of California. That place is miserable as hell. The traffic across the Altamont pass and the weather alone make that shyt BabylonI just go looking for spots near/around the bart station.
Ima flip it on nikkaz and shack up in Fremont, Union City or castro valley.
Worst thing i will settle for is dirty ass Richmond or Stockton. Now Stockton is damn near an abandoned city.
I would live like a king.![]()
Thats quite ironic because i literally call Richmond,CA the stinky armpit of The Bay.Stockton is the armpit of California. That place is miserable as hell. The traffic across the Altamont pass and the weather alone make that shyt Babylon
