I got cousins that go by Pookie, Nookie, and Bug(female with big eyes). I knew a hood nikka in high school that used to go by Noochie. Ray Ray used to be the most popular DJ in the city. God bless the dead, he passed like 10 years ago.

Yeah.

Brehs. Not the names themselves but the particular string of words that has become popular.

"We are thinking of *Pookie and Ray Ray* when we [blah blah blah]"

I think it was Barry O that started that shyt
Nah I guess maybe it’s just a Chicago thing ? its default for “them lil dumb nikkas”. like it’s what old people I know have always used to me.

I assumed it was from somebody’s comedy album how so many people used it.

Makes sense that Obama picked it up.

I do know a niqqa named Pookie right now. Classic Pookie ass niqqa too. Live wit his gramma (niqqa like 30). Covered in a layer of Pigpen dust (the definition of a dusty ass niqqa. A sandstorm walking).

Ray Ray? I know I met 17 of em in life but I can't say know a cat named Ray Ray.

Brings up a good point. Where'd Obama get it from (who started it in Chi)?

That's why it baffles me if a black person is asking where those names came from. If you have a predominately black family, especially in the hood, you have heard these names.

That's not what OP is saying, doe.

He can correct me if i'm wrong...but I believe he's asking "why are those two particular names being singled out?"

As he said:

The black sector of YouTube been having a Pookie & Ray-Ray debate for the last couple weeks. It got me wondering where did those name originate from?

As you admit:

Some folks conflate pookie and ray ray with some ghetto stereotype...

It doesn't matter that anyone knows people with these nicknames (as this thread shows), but the question at hand is
why are these two names in particular the Flavor Of The Month...OP is correct, folk have been saying "Pookie and Ray-Ray"
just like that - in the same phrasing - to mean "niccas who ain't chit". It's been happening too much for it to be an accident,
so it begs the question of who was
doing it that got it jumped off...
