ok, so what should happen though? new vote?

Here is where we find out who has the batteries in Boris's back.

He wants to run out the clock until the end of October. The MPs have to raise the right legislation in parliament blocking a no deal brexit.

If it passes he has no choice but to hold elections to try to garner a usable majority. Of course, the big deal there is losing the election.

If he had any honor, he would hold elections. If he has orders to push through Brexit no matter what, he may try to suspend parliament again. It's all in the timing at this point.

Boris is going to do everything he can to get elections now without a no-deal guarantor so he can cut off Farage coming at his right flank, Labour will put forth measures to ensure a "no no-deal" scenario which will kneecap Boris as now he'll have to deal with his insurgent right and an empowered Labour that can run on a ticket of even potentially offering a 2nd ref (likely containing "Labour deal exit, Remain") and consolidate their own base to prevent vote splitting from pissy Lib Dems who only care about Brexit at the expense of all other aspects of governance and needs for the general electorate. Because, as has been said, the UK government has basically been entirely non-functional for the last 3 years while this quagmire has sucked all the energy for literally everything else out of the room.

One way or another it needs to get settled so the UK people can have a government actually focus on domestic issues.
