:martin: What kind of government are you advocating?
I vote for my representation. In doing so, Im confident I've voted for intelligent people that have a grasp on various matters that government deals w/. If Parliament or whoever had a vote to leave or remain, I'd bet politicians would vote to remain.

Somewhere in this culture people have become convinced that they're smarter than elected officials. And they probably are smarter than some. But I expect people I vote for to be smarter about certain topics than myself and definitely less reactionary than myself or the population.

Our system is designed to elect representation for the people, by the people. The people vote on their representation. Basically, I believe elected officials should make decisions like this. Even elected officials I dont like and I didn't vote for. :francis:

Well that's democracy, and the result of pushing populists to the forefront. Why did Farage become a force in the UK? Why did Cameron jeopardize his country by organizing the referendum? Where were the campaigners for the "Remain" camp? We already know the answers.

All of this just shows udnerlying issues and political opinions that have been in the UK for much longer. This was just the perfect opportunity for the xenophobes to come out.

It's too easy to brush aside this result on saying "they didn't know". Ignorance might be bliss, but not in politics. You have a vote, it's up to you to use as a reasonable adult. And live with the consequences. And if they DIDN'T bother to go vote, well, yeah, fukk they have to live with consequences too. Reminds me of people who were "shocked" that JM Le Pen made it to 2nd round in the 2002, only to admit later they hadn't even bothered to vote in the first round :camby::camby::camby:
The majority of our population elected George W Bush, twice. We know the imperfections of democracy :beli:

There's plenty of people running for PM including Michael Gove who along with Boris was the most prominent LEAVE person.

Boris was being criticized during the campaign for only doing this to become PM. He proved them wrong but apparently it was a lose-lose for him if people are now going to criticize him for NOT taking power now too.

Fair enough, but it's still a bytch ass move to punk out when what you've were advocating for just succeeded :yeshrug:

This might be true in theory except elections are influenced by things like outside money and as you can observe, Washington (I'm assuming you're American), is pretty dysfunctional even if it does have "smart people."

Congress people are probably "smarter" then the average American but congressmen also has ulterior motives that the average American doesn't. That's why "people have become convinced they're smarter" as you said in your post, because all people see is the shytty actions of congress people and the dysfunction.

So if your representative decided to form a union with Mexico and Canada and hand over sovereignty to a commission you would be cool with it because you think they are smarter than you?

Ok

Why was Boris anymore obliged to run for PM then any other Leave politician? Just because he is more well known? He never said he was going to go for it.

Exactly. And Italy voted for Berlusconi THREE times (:heh:) Until one isn't serious about adressing WHY people vote for these retarded ideas, gotta live with the consequences. This is no fluke, it's the logical consequence of policies implemented and statements made by political leaders over the years.

The biggest problem w/ our country is the conservative psyche. These people look for elected officials who share all of their beliefs and remind them of themselves. Usually thats a religious nut, that doesnt believe in science. The business part of conservatism has been dumbed down to keep what you earn. Basically pay as few taxes as possible. Inteligent, diabolical, rich conservatives have succeeded in getting poor rednecks to believe they're overtaxed and the government is overtaxing their employer, so thats why their wages are low and their benefits suck.

And everything is influenced by money. The leave campaign benefited from outside agitators throwing in guap to help bring chaos.

Well logically, you're at the front of the Brexit campaign, the guy you was campaigning against resigns, so yeah, politically he should take his responsibilities and govern the country he wanted out, and yes precisely because he is more well known. Legally he doesn't HAVE to do obviously, but I can't see how this could be seen as anything else than him admiting he had no clue what to do/is too scared to move a step up.

It's easy to criticize from the sidelines.

Well at least I guess Farage will be running? :dead:

I would admit I fukked the pooch on that vote and vote for his or her opponent the next time. But I'd have to take that L for the moment.

I like that our system has checks and balances. It is highly unlikely to get every branch of government to vote for something like you mentioned. But if u put a vote like that in the hands of the people, scary.

And it people on the left that freak me out too. Bernie Sanders is a good man, but he's a fukkin lunatic.

That's like saying chair of the DNC/RNC should be President. :whoa:

No, but as far as the federal government in America goes, thats the biggest problem.

Conservatives will bring up places like BMore and Detroit as proof of some failed liberal utopia. But conservatives have their fingerprints in places like those as well.

Edit: u aint American? Uif not, u don't understand our version of conservatism. David Cameron would be a Democrat here
