Unless you're an NBA-caliber defender, it's damn near impossible to stop a pro from "getting to his spot." Even the worst NBA-ers can make damn near all their uncontested J's. If they got height on you, they'll just shoot over you or bulldoze you.

A rec-league baller could have enough athleticism to keep up, but the NBA pro is crafty and can get buckets just going at 25% effort. That's the difference. They barely look like they're trying and you still can't stop them. Skill gap is huge.
