this is where all that research and study funding keeps going to. Rich tenured white professors. wasn't shyt to study here. year ain't over and they got the names. I want to see accounting on that money...

I highly doubt they paid a million to these families and profs. Some of these records were public/state-owned.

These types of digitizing projects are expensive, time consuming, and labor intensive even with high-tech equipment. Maybe half of the money went to workers, equipment, and preservation.

This is great, they need to do it for America next.

I imagine this would be part of the work of the reparations commission. Any company that benefited from the slave trade, and any families with wealth that can be tied back to the slave trade will have to be taxed until black unemployment rates, mortality rates, and incarceration rates fall in line with the white majority's rates. Every black family that has citizenship in america that goes back to at least the 1950s will get yearly payments when they file their taxes. No questions asked, just an injection of cash each year of an additional 10k. This will be a lifesaver if you're making 30k a year, now you have 40k. If you are expecting a child, that extra 10k a year is a godsend for that child's expenses and to start a college fund. If you're living in a city with a shytty school system which can seduce your kid into "aint shyt" behavior including joining a gang, that extra 10k can pay for afterschool activities like sports, music, science, art.
