Right. The Spurs would put Duncan on the weaker big man for the first 3 quarters for the majority of the time and then he'd switch and play the 4th on the other. He would guard Rick Fox or Ho Grant early then switch to Shaq late.

You see it now a lot on defense. He'll basically plant down in the paint. If the man he's guarding has a pick set on him he'll stay on the guy setting the pick. If both guys then shoot out to the three point line he'll usually leave one of them and stay down in to the paint. Indiana took advantage of it plenty of times. Can't speak as much on Toronto series since I missed most of it. It's the smart thing to do especially if you have a team not abusing you with it.
