It's digusting that many black men are so thirsty for a leader that a whole industry has cropped up. Umar, Tariq, Tommy, Polight...list is a mile long of people who started with some BS, began fetishizing our history, and realized they could capitalize on a weak, misguided group subgroup of people.
It's sad.

Entertainers and athletes become rich and many of our people complain about them not speaking up for our issues and involving themselves more in community activism.
Now, we have a new crop of brothers who are not only Knowledgeable but found ways to financially become independent and not have to punch corporate americas clock, and they still support the community, speak out against injustice and help build institutions and platforms for our community, yet the second we get more wealthy brothers, those same people who complain about the rich athletes and entertainers, turn around and call the more conscious wealthy brothers crooks
Then if the brother or sister is a activist but they struggling financially no one will listen to them with the notion that there is not much that person can offer since he can't turn his knowledge into success
Overall there is no winning with some of you, it will always be some new foolish reason not to support someone
But then you all will be the same ones asking why we can't change anything in the community smh. Well this is why. Because as leaders arise, you all sabotage them.

damn forreal?

makes me think of a mixtape coverWhy do you c00ns hate to see black people make money from other black people? That's the literal definition of group economics. You c00ns don't give two shyts about what the crackers who you spend 99.9% of your money do with it but you audit the life of any black man that makes his money with other black people tryna police what they do with it. There's absolutely nothing wrong with these cats capitalizing of off of black history or any of that. I'd rather these cats get bread off of other blacks than whites when you're supported by whites they control you. If the people who follow/support this cat don't have a problem with him treating himself then that's on them. Why try and shame folk? You c00ns need to be lined up.

The problem that you have, is you view selling independent merchandise to a black audience as "pimping" an audience, as if you have a monopoly on knowledge and these brothers offer nothing, because YOU say so smh.I love seeing my black brethren achieve independence and build each other with business they own. I actually cofounded and operate an internet radio station designed to help mostly black artist get their music to a majority black audience. I network with other independent black business owners all the time. Check out BYNKRadio.com when you have a moment.
What I am not okay with is someone like Umar believing he's above question and pimping a cause without producing results or even a plan for results. Or Polight being a known plagiarist selling a service he has know proof of expertise in. These are the worse people because they misguide their own for a quick dollar.
Garvey was an example of a man who sold a quality product to his own, while showing ways to become financially independent.
Getting money from other groups and pumping it into our community is something when need to be doing.
What is knowledgeable about Polight? He is a plagiarist.
Malcolm X - didn't pimp his people for a dollar. Was an activist, wasn't selling BS books and scam services.
MLK - didn't pimp his people for a dollar. Was an activist, wasn't selling BS books and scam services.
You see the difference? If someone truly cares about their cause their first thought will not be for-sale-tickets for speaking tours, books that pimp our history for a buck, and "membership" clubs completely unrelated to our issues or financial independence. They won't think "let me line pockets" they think "how can I use these resources to further my people's cause.
Now if someone isn't an activist, then it's cool, do what you want. But be upfront be play that you are a businessman that is selling a product. Not "Buy my stuff because I'm black and I pretend to be an activist."
