I love seeing my black brethren achieve independence and build each other with business they own. I actually cofounded and operate an internet radio station designed to help mostly black artist get their music to a majority black audience. I network with other independent black business owners all the time. Check out BYNKRadio.com when you have a moment.
What I am not okay with is someone like Umar believing he's above question and pimping a cause without producing results or even a plan for results. Or Polight being a known plagiarist selling a service he has know proof of expertise in. These are the worse people because they misguide their own for a quick dollar.
Garvey was an example of a man who sold a
quality product to his own, while showing ways to become financially independent.
Getting money from other groups and pumping it into our community is something when need to be doing.
What is knowledgeable about Polight? He is a plagiarist.
Malcolm X - didn't pimp his people for a dollar. Was an activist, wasn't selling BS books and scam services.
MLK - didn't pimp his people for a dollar. Was an activist, wasn't selling BS books and scam services.
You see the difference? If someone truly cares about their cause their first thought will not be for-sale-tickets for speaking tours, books that pimp our history for a buck, and "membership" clubs completely unrelated to our issues or financial independence. They won't think "let me line pockets" they think "how can I use these resources to further my people's cause.
Now if someone isn't an activist, then it's cool, do what you want. But be upfront be play that you are a businessman that is selling a product. Not "Buy my stuff because I'm black and I pretend to be an activist."
