2) The officers who came for Mr. LeDay need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law

Obama doesn't control state prosecutors or District attorneys.

3) He can't make the officers be honest, but he can mandate making the killing of a person by a cop a federal crime, meaning that it gets dealt with at the FEDERAL level to bypass state bureaucracy.

No, he can't. State laws allow officers to use deadly force "proportional to the imminent threat." How the hell would a law that does not allow police officers to kill "suspects" pass in Congress?

4) He needs to pull federal funding for all projects for any state with this issue until it gets involved. Hit them where their pocket hurts.

This is ridiculous. You can't stop funding an entire state, because of injustices within a certain department.

5) He can call in the National Guard to sit in these areas to protect the public until the states pass legislation resolving these issues, and let the states pick up the tab in the meanwhile.

Once again National Guard was called in Ferguson. How does this improve the situation on the ground?

6) He could block all federal funding for all the police departments involved as well.

He has threatened to do it several times, and as a general trend homeland security and department of justice grants have been decreasing every year, but I agree that one of these departments needs to be made an example of.

It just seems like you don't really understand how bureaucracy works. Their are plenty of shortcomings Obama has made, not addressing violence in Chicago, and p*ssyfooting around these issues in general. Police Arrest Man Who Posted Video of Alton Sterling?s Death - Democratic Underground


The man who was instrumental to making the first released recording of the Alton Sterling shooting go viral was arrested less than 24 hours later on charges of “assault and battery,” a move that he says was an act of police retaliation, according to a report by Carlos Miller with Photography Is Not a Crime (PINAC).

Alton Sterling’s death was still only a local controversy before Chris LeDay shared the video of the killing to his roughly 13,000 Instagram followers, 6,00o Twitter followers, and 2,000 Facebook friends. The video was then shared thousands of times, including by New York Daily News writer and Black Lives Matter supporter Shaun King, who shared it less than an hour after LeDay’s post.

“I wanted everybody to see this video,” LeDay told PINAC. “I wanted it to go viral. The police were already saying their body cams fell off and I wanted to show there was video of the shooting.”

The very next day, while trying to get through a security checkpoint to go to his job as an aerospace ground equipment technician at Dobbins Air Reserve Base, LeDay was surrounded and detained by ten military police officers, some of whom carried M-16 rifles.
