My grandma got it at like 67 or something..and passed at like 70.

The last time I saw her was during like a thanksgiving gathering..she only remembered her kids (like my mother) basically ..and she kept asking if I was my mothers boyfriend …it was heartbreaking she had no idea who I was and I would spend countless summers and holidays with her..

The worst part of my experience with dementia, was the paranoia that it brought on, in my grandfather’s case, at least. My grandfather clinging on to his memory but his inability to do so led to distrust to those around him. From nurses, to loved ones, he filled in the memory confusion with nonsensical reasons that people were out to get him.

Incredibly heartbreaking to have someone you love, who you’re going out of your way to support so that they’re final days/months/years can be as comfortable and humane as possible, look you in your eyes and truly believe that you are trying to do them harm.

Prayers for Bruce and his family. This will be a very trying time for them. :mjcry:

sorry for your loss g, runs in my family and im really terrified i may be seeing it too :mjcry:

Damn. Sorry to hear that breh. She was the only one in our family to pass from it. Everybody I’m kin to either punches out due to old age or cancer, and even then they managed to live until their 70’s.
It’s why through the good and the bad, I give people their grace. Never know what they go through. Seeing my older Uncles, men in their mid 50’s-60’s, manly men types, breakdown over watching their older sister deteriorate….don’t wish that pain on nobody

That's sad to hear. Frontotemporal is one of those hard ones because it tends to effect the person's personality and speech considerably often. Though there's different kinds, that's a very common symptom. That's going to be hard on the family.

I feel a lot of diseases can be prevented with healthy living and exercise but with 1 major Caveat - Proper Sleep

I believe most people do not get enough sleep period. Sleep is the time when your body gets to rest and heal it self. But if you do not get proper rest then the body never properly heals itself, then you go on this lifetime cycle of working and never “fully resting”

Once you become accustomed to not getting proper rest, the body will trick itself into thinking it doesn’t need as much sleep, until the inevitable diseases start to arise.

IMO you should be getting a minimum 8 hours sleep per day. I’ve always been big on sleep so it’s easy for me to sleep 8-10 hours and still take a nap during the day

I also believe Cannabis can help prevent certain brain diseases like Dementia. Marijuana and how in interacts with our brains and cannabinoids is still being researched, but I truly believe Marijuana can help prevent calcium’s from building up in your system that can cause specific diseases.

There is no substitute for proper sleep period. You compromise on sleep you will probably die much younger than you should.
