What did the label really offer him?

Joey’s music hasn’t really done shyt in the last decade besides that one album he dropped with the American flag on the cover but it was forgettable.

I guess he just wanted to eat and live off the advances which I imagine was a few million. Now they’re controlling his music and output because he wanted the bread

Crazy I’m listening to Larry June right now who did the complete opposite and has blown up and has wayyyy more motion than Joey has ever had. I guess other than when he first dropped back when he was a teenager with his little crew. Larry still rich as fukk too and gets to release what he wants, whenever he wants. His show here in Toronto last summer was sold out

Joey just doesn’t seem “active” in the game like that, despite the features here and there. The battle raps were cool though

Literally no better time to put his shyt out. I don’t listen to him and would’ve gave it a chance off the hype from the battle. Labels suck
He could've went the Vince Staples route and put effort into specifically making music that works well in television, labels wouldn't turn down that sync money and it doubles as free promo :yeshrug: rappers aren't bringing in the profit they used to, y'all gotta remember this, it's the biggest factor most times and the artist refuse to adapt with the times.

I would ask what's the word behind the scenes but 9 times outta 10 it's usually some poor decision making by the artist that they aren't telling the fans about :francis: these labels and lawyers really be doing them a favor by not exposing how bad these rappers play themselves

Well that sucks. I was going to check it out too.

These major labels don't always have it right with rap releases.

Maybe he can go independent once he's freed from the label, but reIeasing now would have been better timing.

i love joey. he's not that big of an artist. his youtube videos don't have that many views. there's random new mexican artists who had their first song 2 months ago that have almost as many monthly listeners than him on spotify.

Joeys best years are behind him, popularity wise. I really don’t know what he should do.

He wasn’t the type of artist who could take the break he took from 2017-2022 and keep his motion. He’d probably be better off releasing something as a mixtape go on some streaming platforms and hit a lil tour up if he can.

I don’t think Hov coming to save him. Or maybe he is. :jbhmm:
